Actress Geena Davis Sues Advocacy Group Over Charity Foundation Idea

Move over people, Geena Davis is making her big step to the court. The actress is suing two Minnesota residents, the owners of a local non-profit group, whom she claimed to have stolen her idea for a charitable foundation and promoting it as their own.
In the suit she filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday August 27th, Davis said she came up with the idea for See Jane foundation, an organization focused on exploring the depiction of gender in children's media, in 2004.

July 07, 2006 03:07:26As the celebration of this year's Emmy Awards draws near, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has officially announced on Thursday, July 6 the nominees for the prime time entertainment. Choosing those for the Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series category, the organization has picked up names like Steve Carell, Tony Shalhoub, and Charlie Sheen in the list besides placing Kiefer Sutherland, Peter Krause, also Denis Leary together to compete for the title of Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series.
In the female's side, Stockard Channing, Debra Messing, and Lisa Kudrow will be up for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series category while Allison Janney, Kyra Sedgwick, plus Geena Davis have been lined up for that in drama series. As for another in miniseries/ TV-movie category, there has popped up notable names of Gillian Anderson, Kathy Bates, Judy Davis, Helen Mirren, and Annette Bening altogether.

Jennifer Lopez and Geena Davis, both have been honored for their strong portrayals of women at the Women In Film Crystal Awards held in Los Angeles on Tuesday night June 6th, 2006.
Lopez, who was also honored for her charity work, commented "I already have a love affair with diamonds - and now with crystal as well."

The first ever Billies Awards, a new awards ceremony recognizing coverage of women's sport, was attended by such celebrities as Elton John, Sharon Stone, and Geena Davis. While John received an honorary award and performed, Stone and Davis attended the ceremony along with a host of sportswomen.
Billies Awards actually is named after tennis champion Billie Jean King. The event is held to recognize media excellence in women's sports and physical activity. King started the awards to support the cause of her Women's Sports Foundation - to remove barriers from girls getting into sport.
The 63rd Golden Globe Winners Top in TV
January 17, 2006 04:01:53The "Desperate Housewives" apparently isn't sound that bad at the 63rd annual Golden Globe Awards. At the bash thrown Monday January 16th, the ABC hit series took home its second consecutive Golden Globe trophy for Best Comedy Series.
In the meantime, ABC also won the Best Drama Series award for its "Lost." Geena Davis, in chain, took home the Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Drama award for "Commander In Chief" and Hugh Laurie won the Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series - Drama prize for "House."
