In a new promo for her upcoming episode, the Emmy-winning actress' first-time hosting stint on 'Saturday Night Live' is taking a backseat to the show's historical milestone.

AceShowbiz - NBC's promo for the season 50 premiere of "Saturday Night Live" (SNL) focuses predominantly on the show's 50-year legacy rather than Jean Smart's hosting debut. The promo features a montage of classic sketches and monologues, including George Carlin's legendary monologue from the first episode in 1975 and appearances from Steve Martin, Gilda Radner, Eddie Murphy and Drew Barrymore.
Despite walking through the halls of Studio 8H, Smart's narration is repeatedly interrupted by clips from previous seasons. Her attempts to introduce herself are met with more clips, leading her to exclaim, "Knock it off already, alright? Geeze, can we make this a little bit more about me?"
Smart's hosting debut marks her first appearance on "SNL" despite being a familiar face on television since 1979. She recently won an Emmy for her role as comedian Deborah Vance on "Hacks", marking her sixth Emmy win, including three consecutive awards for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series.
Joining Smart as musical guest for the season 50 premiere is country music star Jelly Roll, while comedian Nate Bargatze and Coldplay will appear on the October 5 episode. Ariana Grande and Stevie Nicks are set to host and perform for the October 12 episode, respectively. Michael Keaton and Billie Eilish are scheduled for the October 19 episode, and John Mulaney and Chappel Roan will lead the November 2 show.
Three new cast members, Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline, will join SNL for season 50. Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker have been promoted to the main cast. Michael Che and Colin Jost will continue their roles as "Weekend Update" anchors. Former cast member Maya Rudolph will also return to play Vice President Kamala Harris.
"Saturday Night Live" airs live on Saturdays at 11:30 P.M. ET on NBC, with past episodes available to stream on Peacock.
