AceShowbiz - Eva Mendes won't let anyone mock her husband Ryan Gosling over his role in "Barbie". Firing back at those who tried to shame the actor for playing Ken, the "Hitch" actress let everyone know how "proud" she is as Ryan's wife as the role earned him an Oscar nomination.

Making use of Instagram on Wednesday, January 24, the 49-year-old shared a June 2022 article from Rolling Stone. Its headline read, "Sorry to Be the One to Say It, but Ryan Gosling Is Giving Major Cringe as Ken in 'Barbie.' "

In the caption, Eva wrote, "So proud of my man. So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars." She added, "So beyond proud to be this Ken's Barbie."

The post has since been flooded with supportive comments from fellow actresses. America Ferrera, who plays Gloria in "Barbie", wrote, "He is brilliant as Ken! Pulled off a triple somersault performance! We're so lucky it was him and I'm so grateful for the way he showed up with his super stardom, and continues to show up to support all the women in this process!! He is a class act and insanely deserving and talented."

Padma Lakshmi also praised Ryan for playing "such a hard role to pull off." She continued, "And he did so with flying colors and made it so much fun AND endearing. I walked out of the theatre with my daughter and immediately said 'he should get an Oscar nod for this'. I'm so glad he did. What he did, without ego, is pure genius." Teresa Palmer chimed in, "He was incredible in it, an absolute standout and so deserving in his nom. Beautifully articulated statement too. Go Ryan!

"Barbie" received a total of eight nominations for the 96th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Ryan and Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera. Unfortunately, leading star Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig missed the cut in their respective categories which were Best Actress and Best Director.
