'American Idol' Finale Recap: Season 21 Crowns Its Winner!

In the highly anticipated episode of the popular series, the Top 3, Iam Tongi, Colin Stough and Megan Danielle, will be showing off their skills for one last time in front of judges and viewers.

AceShowbiz - "American Idol" announced its season 21 winner in the Sunday, May 21 episode. The new outing saw the Top 3, Iam Tongi, Colin Stough and Megan Danielle, showed off their skills for one last time in front of judges and viewers.

Megan was up first, singing mentor Keith Urban's "God Whispered Your Name" for her opening song. Judge Lionel Richie said that Megan had "natural barbecue sauce" in her voice. Meanwhile, Luke Bryan claimed he didn't hear her miss a note all year and dubbed Megan "inspiring."

Following it up was Iam, who belted out "Making Memories of Us". Judge Katy Perry noted that every time Iam sings, "it moves us so much." Luke echoed the sentiment, calling Iam's voice a "natural gift from God." Lionel, meanwhile, praised Iam for being "an incredible storyteller."

Later, Colin hit the stage to sing "Stupid Boy". Luke said Colin has come so far from the kid who walked into his audition. As for Lionel, he told Colin to "enjoy the ride" and that they're proud of him. Katy, meanwhile, said that Colin's still only at about 60% and when he hits 100% in the real world it's gonna get hot.

Megan then returned to the stage. She performed "Faithfully" by Journey that she dedicated to her hometown of Douglasville, Georgia. Katy was in tears even though Megan only sang for about 30 seconds. The "Fireworks" singer said that Megan "aced this class" with Luke calling it one of the best performances of the season.

Iam, meanwhile, dedicated "Cool Down" by Kolohe Kai to his hometown of Kahuku, Hawaii. "You bring the culture to 'American Idol'," Katy commented, with Lionel thought that Iam's performance "was absolutely amazing."

As for Colin, he picked "Either Way" by Chris Stapleton as the song which he dedicated to his hometown of Amory, Mississippi. Luke said he "kicked it in the rear." Katy, meanwhile, dubbed it "his sweet spot."

Before the highly anticipated winner announcement, Lucy Love took the stage with TLC for a fun medley of "No Scrubs," "Creep" and "Waterfalls". Zachariah Smith then joined forces with REO Speedwagon's Kevin Cronin for a performance of "Take It On the Run". Host Ryan Seacrest later revealed that the third place finisher was Colin, meaning that it was down to Megan and Iam.

The next performers that night were Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson. Lionel also hit the stage to sing his own hit "Sail On", joined by the Top 12 as backup singers. Keith Urban also performed his new single "Wild Hearts", before James Blunt teamed up with Iam for an emotional duet of Iam's audition song, "Monsters".

Ellie Goulding appeared to promote her single "Miracle" with Calvin Harris. She was then joined by Tyson Venegas on her hit "Burn", while Lauren Daigle returned singing "These are the Days" before she and Megan belted out "Thank God I Do".

Luke was up next to sing his new single, "But I Got a Beer in My Hand". Colin and Luke later joined forces to sing "Slow Hand" by Conway Twitty. Viewers were then treated to a duet performance of Jazmine Sullivan and We Ani singing "Bust Your Windows".

Following a few other performances, Megan hit the stage to sing her new single "Dreamgirl" for her final "American Idol" performance. Iam also performed his new single, "I'll Be Seeing You".

It was finally time for Ryan to make the winner announcement. The winner of "American Idol" season 21 is Iam Tongi! Congratulations!
