Simon Baker Quietly Parts Ways With Girlfriend Over COVID Vaccine Opposition

News of 'The Mentalist' actor's breakup from Laura May Gibbs comes to light after the activewear designer shared an Instagram video from an anti-vaccination rally in Australia.

AceShowbiz - Australian actor Simon Baker has split from girlfriend Laura May Gibbs after she attended an anti-vaccine protest.

"The Mentalist" star "quietly parted ways" with the activewear designer several months ago, after discovering she is opposed to nationwide COVID-19 vaccine mandates, People reports.

The news of their break-up came to light after Gibbs shared an Instagram video on Sunday, November 7 from an anti-vaccination rally in Australia.

In the clip, unmasked protesters are shown singing John Lennon's "Power to the People", with one person's sign reading, "We stand united against 'no jab no job' and vaccine passports."

Gibbs, who is the founder of luxury fashion and lifestyle brand Nagnata, captioned her Instagram post, "Power to the people @reclaimtheline."

Last month (October 2021), Gibbs released a statement on her company's official account criticizing the "discrimination" surrounding the COVID vaccine.

"It is against our personal and brand values to discriminate against any customers from walking through the doors of our Nagnata retail store," the Instagram post read.

"In light of the NSW (New South Wales) government releasing a roadmap to ease Covid restrictions for the vaccinated only, we have made the decision to close our Byron Bay store from Monday 11th October. We will reopen when ALL are welcome without fear of judgement and fines."

Baker and Gibbs were first linked when they were spotted in Byron Bay in February 2021, a month after he split from his actress wife of 29 years, Rebecca Rigg.

"We remain close friends and our three children will always be the most important focus of our lives," the former couple, who share children Stella, 28, Claude, 22, and Harry, 20, said in a joint statement at the time.
