Months away from the release of his debut solo album, 'Walls', the 'Back to You' singer looks back at the work he had done with Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik.

AceShowbiz - Louis Tomlinson's new album is a better representation of him than his One Direction tracks, because he didn't have to record songs that "fit into four or five personalities."
The singer rose to fame as part of the boyband on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010 and topped charts with pals Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik until they called it quits in 2016.
While the star's gearing up to release his debut solo effort, "Walls", in January (20), he told Britain's Daily Star newspaper his tracks are more "real" than those of the group.
"Being in a band like One Direction, and the type of band that we were and where we came from, it's not real," he said. "You're aiming for as many No1s as you can possibly get, the biggest deals. Everything is on such a massive scale."
"The One Direction stuff wasn't straight forward, but an element of it was because you're doing songs that are relatively vague so it fits into four or five personalities and it's automatically less personal."
Louis, who recently confessed the deaths of his mum and sister played a key role in the making of the album, went on to reflect he's "super proud" of the finished album.
"So when I sat down and I listened to my album when it was finished I felt super proud because I know how long and how many little things I've changed throughout the way," the "Kill My Mind" singer mused. "My lyrics are real, and relatable as I can be. Lyrics are important to me so I'm happy my words can make people feel something."
"Walls" drops 31 January.
