AceShowbiz - The 60th annual Grammy Awards, which is broadcast live from Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday, January 28, has officially started. Kendrick Lamar and U2 kicked off the event hosted by James Corden with their collaboration "XXX".

Lady GaGa then took the stage to perform her title track "Joanne" before John Legend and Tony Bennett presented the first award of the night to Kendrick and Rihanna, who won Best Rap/Sung performance for their collaboration "Loyalty". Kendrick said in his acceptance speech, "Hey Rihanna, what's up? This really belongs to her, real talk."

After Sam Smith's gospel performance of "Pray", Kelly Clarkson and Nick Jonas took to the stage to present the award for Best New Artist. Alessia Cara took the said award after besting the likes of Khalid, Lil Uzi Vert and SZA. "Holy Cow, I'm Shaking. I've been pretend-winning Grammys since was a kid, like in my shower," she said after receiving the award.

"To my fans, for standing by me and for being so supportive and amazing, this if for you," the Canadian songstress continued. "You guys are the reason I don't have to win Grammys in my shower anymore!"

Jim Gaffigan later hit the stage to introduce Little Big Town's performance of "Better Man". After that, Ed Sheeran was presented with Best Pop Solo Performance Award for his hit song "Shape of You". His album "Divide (division sign)" won Best Pop Vocal Award ahead of the telecast. Unfortunately, the British singer did not come to the event to receive the award.

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee then belted out a rendition of their megahit song "Despacito". Even though Justin Bieber didn't perform together with the duo, they were joined onstage by Puerto Rican beauty Zuleyka Rivera.

Following their performance, Kendrick went back to the stage to receive Best Rap Album Award for his latest effort "DAMN." The award was presented by Dave Chappelle.
