MTV's 'TRL' Reboot Gets Premiere Date, Announces Brand New Five Hosts

The new hosts include Amy Pham, D.C. Young Fly, Erik Zachary, Lawrence Jackson and Tamara Dhia, while 'The Voice' host Carson Daly won't reprise his hosting duty.

AceShowbiz - MTV has set a premiere date for its reboot of "TRL" a.k.a. "Total Request Live" after announcing the '90s and '00s show's revival yesterday. "TRL" is slated to return to the small screen on October 2 on the network.

The show will broadcast from the network's iconic Times Square studio, which has been "expanded by nearly 200 percent" to 8,700 square feet to allow for bigger audiences. "TRL" will integrate exclusive digital content across several social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and Musical.ly.

The network also announces "TRL" five rotating hosts, which include Amy Pham, D.C. Young Fly, Erik Zachary, Lawrence Jackson and Tamara Dhia, as Carson Daly won't reprise his hosting duty. Amy is a DJ, actress and television host. She has over 500,000 followers on her Instagram account and has performed with several of stars such as Snoop Dogg, Ciara and Lady GaGa.

Rapper, actor and comedian D.C. Young Fly is a cast member on MTV's "Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'N Out". Young Fly, whose real name is John Whitfield, starred on BET's "The New Edition Story" and boasts five million followers on Instagram.

Erik is currently the on-air host for iHeartMedia's 103.5 KISS FM in Chicago. Meanwhile, Lawrence is an actor, producer and TV/radio personality who joins MTV from Revolt. Lawrence is also a journalist and his works has been featured in ESPN, ABC and Essence Magazine. He has interviewed a slew of celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Hart and Usher.

Tamara joins MTV from Complex. The writer, producer and host reports pop culture news, and has interviewed stars such as Kylie Jenner, Zayn Malik, DJ Khaled and Amber Rose.
