Some celebrities have gone under the knife to enhance their looks, but not many of them have the courage to admit that plastic surgeries fail to make them feel better about themselves.

AceShowbiz - Celebrities are expected to look flawless all the time. They can get older, but they can't age. Although it is impossible maintain a youthful look forever, celebrities always receive criticism whenever they look less than perfect. Due to the pressure, many Hollywood stars decide to undergo plastic surgery. Many of them deny getting their faces or bodies done, but some of them are brave enough to admit that plastic surgery only causes them to suffer. Here are some of them who have reminded us why plastic surgery doesn't always work to enhance our looks.

Tara Reid

Tara Reid rose to fame after playing Vicky in "American Pie". Many people praised her beauty, but she wasn't satisfied with her appearance. In 2004, she suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction while attending P. Diddy's highly-publicized birthday party. Her dress accidentally fell down, exposing her left breast. Scar tissue could be seen around her nipple, leading people to believe that she got breast implants. Two years later, Tara admitted to getting breast implants and liposuction.

"I got my breasts done for the first time because my breasts were uneven. I was a 34-B, but the right one was always bigger than the left. I weigh 110 pounds now, but I always used to fluctuate by 10 pounds, so my skin was kind of saggy. I figured, I'm in Hollywood, I'm getting older, I'm going to fix them," she confessed in an interview with Us Weekly. "First of all, I asked for big Bs, and he did not give me big Bs. He gave me Cs, and I didn't want them. At all. Right after the surgery, I had some bumps along the edges of my nipples, but the doctor said, 'Don't worry, it's going to be better.' But after six months of 'it's going to get better,' it started to get worse and worse."

However, what made her suffer the most were the splotches on her stomach which she got because of liposuction. "My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing," she said. "I got lipo because even though I was skinny, I wanted - I'm not going to lie - a six-pack. I had body contouring, but it all went wrong. My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing."

Mickey Rourke

Mickey Rourke was originally an amateur boxer before he decided to become an actor in late 1970s. After starring in critically acclaimed movies like "The Pope of Greenwich Village", "Barfly" and "Angel Heart", Mickey announced that he would be returning to boxing. During his boxing career, "The Wrestler" star injured his face many times and had to undergo reconstructive surgery. He wasn't satisfied with the result and had a plastic surgery to fix his face.

"I had my nose broken twice. I had five operations on my nose and one on a smashed cheekbone," he shared in an interview with Daily Mail. "I had to have cartilage taken from my ear to rebuild my nose and a couple of operations to scrape out the cartilage because the scar tissue wasn't healing properly. That was one of the most painful operations, but the worst was haemorrhoids." He went on saying, "Most of it was to mend the mess of my face because of the boxing, but I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together."

Kenny Rogers

Releasing many successful albums doesn't make Kenny Rogers feel better about himself. The "I Can't Unlove You" singer was very concerned about his appearance after he received backlash for his weight. Although he managed to lose weight, he felt that his face also needed to be fixed. The pressure of having to look perfect led him to getting his eyes done.

"Yes, I have [done plastic surgery]. I did a lot more a long time ago. Dolly Parton used to kid me about it," Kenny confessed in an interview with PEOPLE. "But like everybody I blame the media for it. The first six years of my career, I got more comments on my weight than on my singing. So I think I became so self-conscious that I started working on it harder."

"Last year I had so many lines coming in at the side of my eyes up here. So I went in and got my eyes done, and I m not happy about it," he continued. "[The surgeon] is going to go in and fix that for me. They're too tight around the eyelids for me. It drives me crazy. I wake up in the morning, and Wanda says, 'You look great.' But I know what I want to look like. If we can fix that, then I'll be glad I did it. If we can t fix it, I'll regret it or get used to it."

Courteney Cox

Courteney Cox portrayed the smart and confident Monica Green on "Friends", but she didn't feel confident with herself in real life. The 53-year-old actress revealed that she was scared of looking old and thought that plastic surgery was the perfect solution before deciding to have all her fillers dissolved recently. "I feel better than I've ever felt in my entire life. I take much better care of myself now," she shared in an interview with Newbeauty. "But Hollywood - this business - makes it harder. I grew up thinking that appearance was the most important thing. That's kind of sad because it got me in trouble. I was trying so hard to keep up, and I actually made things worse."

She then opened up about how she ended up going under the knife numerous times. "Well, what would end up happening is that you go to a doctor who would say, 'You look great, but what would help is a little injection here or filler there.' The next thing you know, you're layered and layered and layered," she said. "You have no idea because it's gradual until you go, 'Oh s**t, this doesn't look right.' And it's worse in pictures than in real life. I have one friend who was like, 'Whoa, no more!' I thought, I haven't done anything in six months. I didn't realize."

Khloe Kardashian

People had suspected that Khloe Kardashian had a plastic surgery on her face for a while before the 33-year-old reality TV star finally admitted it last year. In an episode of "Kocktails with Khloe", she confessed that she got face fillers. However, the result didn't make her happy. "My face was so f**ked I had to go and get this whole thing dissolved," she told the audience. "It did not work for me. I looked crazy, and I still think the effects are in there - I went to have it all dissolved like three times."

"I did it [plastic surgery] and then Lamar's accident happened," she continued, saying that Lamar Odom's relapse affected the result of the surgery. "I was so stressed out the doctor was like, 'I think it's just too much was happening to your real emotions.' " After realizing that plastic surgery didn't make her look better, Khloe didn't want to do it again. "It was a bummer and now I'm afraid to do it again. And I'm almost like, I swear things are still in my face," she said.

Heidi Montag

Heidi Montag was literally obsessed with plastic surgery. In 2010, Heidi admitted to getting ten plastic surgeries in a day. She got breast implants, chin reduction, mini brow lift, nose job as well as fat injections in her cheeks and lips. All those surgeries caused her to suffer many health problems, including a ruptured disc in her neck and spinal damage to her back.

In 2013, she decided to remove her breast implants. "I do regret getting the implants," she admitted to ET. "My new doctor was like, 'You should never have been allowed by the doctor to get implants this big. I put my security and sexuality in my breast size instead of my confidence."

"The Hills" alum later shared that she didn't expect the surgeries would take a toll on her. "I was in way over my head with the surgeries," she told PEOPLE. "I had no idea what I was getting into or that it was a lifelong commitment. It was very challenging, both physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally, on my husband and on our lives."
