PBS clarifies the confusion and explains why they used old footage during this year's 'A Capitol Fourth' telecast, blaming it on the weather.

AceShowbiz - PBS apologizes for confusing viewers with old footage from previous Fourth of July concerts at this year's live broadcast. The network cites weather as the reason behind their decision to showcase old fireworks footage from previous years.

"With the weather being overcast, we showed a combination of the best fireworks from this year and previous years," PBS explained as many noticed the snafu during "A Capitol Fourth" telecast in Washington, DC. "It was the patriotic thing to do."

"We are very proud of the 2016 A Capitol Fourth celebration," they added. "Because this year's fireworks were difficult to see due to the weather, we made the decision to intercut fireworks footage from previous A Capitol Fourth concerts for the best possible television viewing experience. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused."

The concert was hosted by Tom Bergeron. It featured performances by the likes of Sutton Foster, Gavin DeGraw, "The Voice" alums Cassadee Pope & Alisan Porter, Amber Riley and Smokey Robinson.
