The 24th annual MTV Movie Awards came to an end with the announcement of Movie of the Year. "San Andreas" star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson took the stage to present the top prize to "The Fault in Our Stars", bringing a total of three wins for the movie.

The heartwarming romantic drama between two cancer patients beat Chris Kyle tale "American Sniper", coming-of-age pic "Boyhood", psychological thriller "Gone Girl", Marvel flick "Guardians of the Galaxy", Young Adult movie "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1", Martin Luther King Jr. film "Selma", and drama "Whiplash".

Among those accepting the coveted award were the leading actress Shailene Woodley and a very excited John Green who wrote the novel which the movie is based on. "I had nothing to do with the making of this movie, but I was the first to the microphone," the author joked.

Earlier on the show, Green got emotional during Woodley's acceptance speech when she won Best Female Performance. "I feel like this award belongs to John Green," she said. "Who I'm staring at right now, because he gave this world a beautiful masterpiece: A gift in the book 'The Fault in Our Stars'."

The actress also grabbed Best Kiss for her scene with Ansel Elgort. Unfortunately, her co-star who was absent from the show lost Best Shirtless Performance to Zac Efron ("Neighbors"), Breakthrough Performance to Dylan O'Brien ("The Maze Runner"), and Best Male Performance to Bradley Cooper ("American Sniper").
