Taraji P. Henson did bring her "Empire" alter ego Cookie Lyon to "Saturday Night Live" after teasing it in a promo for the April 11 episode which she hosted. The actress channeled her character as she visited Sesame Street and had a chat with Cookie Monster. She also turned Elmo into her fur coat.

Henson also played a lawyer in "Hot for Teacher" sketch where Cecily Strong portrayed a teacher who's having sex with her 16-year-old student, played by Pete Davidson. "I would say it felt like what Disneyland is," Davidson's character described the experience. The skit led people to accuse the show of mocking child rape.

Earlier on the show, Kate McKinnon impersonated Hillary Clinton in the cold open to parody the politician's presidential run announcement. McKinnon's Clinton was seen attempting to take a selfie video to get the support of future voters.

Just in time for "Game of Thrones" season 5 premiere, "SNL" also spoofed "Thrones" in a skit set on the "Eighth Kingdom of Westeros," South Centros. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau made a surprise appearance as Jaime Lannister, who closed out the sketch by saying, "Don't hate the slayer, hate the game."
