'Legion' Unveils Red Band Trailer
Movie

As seen in the five minutes trailer of Scott Charles Stewart's fantasy thriller, Paul Bettany tries to protect humanity's only hope which lies in a group of strangers trapped in a desert diner.

AceShowbiz - A red band trailer for Christian-themed fantasy-thriller film "Legion" has just been debuted at MySpace. This age-restricted promotional preview is around five minutes long and features the first look at Paul Bettany as the archangel Michael and the action sequences the film has to offer. Some of the footage seen in the trailer were shown during the 2009 San Diego Comic Con.

Based on a script originally written by Peter Schink and re-written by director Scott Charles Stewart, the movie takes place after God loses faith in humanity. As He sends his legion of angels to bring on the Apocalypse, the archangel Michael comes to stand between mankind and the apocalypse. Defending humanity's only hope, Michael leads a group of strangers who must protect a woman who is pregnant with Christ in his second coming.

In a chat with Slash Film, Stewart provided more info on the action thriller. "The basic idea is essentially what Paul Bettany's character says in the movie, which is: the last time God lost faith in man, he sent a flood," the filmmaker shared. "This time he sent what you see outside. So, what if God decides that he's lost faith in man?"

"We always talk about having to have faith in God, but what happens if it happens in reverse? God loses faith in man and says 'do it over'? This is our approach to that," he added. "It's also about a bunch of characters who are dealing with lost fathers or lost children, trouble between parents and children, dysfunctional families, and standing over all of that is this idea of an angry father, which is very much God in the Old Testament."

Beside this brand new restricted trailer, two new stills have been shared. Outed by Slash Film, the photos capture moments seen in the trailer. One sees Bettany's Michael coming out from a building and the other one displays the group of strangers who is stuck in the diner with Michael.

"Legion" was filmed in New Mexico with a cast ensemble that includes Dennis Quaid, Tyrese Gibson, Charles S. Dutton, Kate Walsh, Kevin Durand, Doug Jones, Adrianne Palicki and Willa Holland. Screen Gems eyes to release this film in theaters across the U.S. on January 22, 2010.
