Beyonce Knowles was the first to win a category in the event while T.I. got his second Best Hip-Hop title.

AceShowbiz - Early winners of BET Awards have been revealed as the show goes on. On the music category, frontrunner Beyonce Knowles triumphed at the event with her first trophy of the night.

Beyonce scored one for Video of the Year through "Irreplaceable". The winning beat her own duet video with Shakira in "Beautiful Liar" and others by Akon, Ciara and Gnarls Barkley.

Next in line is rapper T.I. who received his Best Hip-Hop Artist winning by joking, "They say its a fine line between brilliance and insanity." He then delivered his thank list as well as apologizing for his beef with Ludacris' crew earlier this week. This will be the second time that T.I. brings home the title after winning the same category last year.

Duo Gnarls Barkley got their turn next to be named Best Group but they failed to show up to receive the statuette. The award giving came to a momentary halt when T.I. gave a performance which was followed by Ne-Yo singing his new hit "Because of You". Fabolous then jumped onstage and did a duet with Ne-Yo on "Make Me Better". A string of other performances by P. Diddy, Keyshia Cole and Lil' Kim follows after.

Latest category to be announced was Best Collaboration that was won by Ludacris and Mary J. Blige on their hit "Runaway Love".
