In the season premiere of Chicago Fire, the men and women of Firehouse 51 find their lives turned upside down. Here's what happened:

Casey's (Jesse Spencer) bid to nail Jack Nesbitt finds him taken at gunpoint by Bulgarian mobsters who are determined to find an incriminating notebook that belonged to Katya, a club dancer found dead. He's rescued and we learn Nesbitt was an FBI informant.

Casey's brush with death makes him reconsider his relationship with Dawson (Monica Raymund). He tells her he wants her back. She reveals that she's pregnant.

The department brass strip Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) of his squad command, citing abnormally high staff turnover. Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) offers Severide support and some management training but confirms that, in the meantime, the new leader is Dallas Patterson (Brian White). We also meet a new firefighter candidate, Jimmy Borrelli (Steven R. McQueen).

Paramedics Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Jessica "Chili" Chilton (Dora Madison) deliver a baby in their ambulance. The mother dies en route to the hospital.

The team tries to respond to a nasty structure fire but finds the street blocked with cars; the locals are trying to burn down a local crack den. Casey smashes the parked cars out of the way and the squad is able to save nearby neighbors before the building explodes.
