Michael Jackson once approached J.K. Rowling with plans to turn her "Harry Potter" stories into a stage musical but his idea was snubbed because the author was not convinced it would be a success. Rowling's series of books have been brought to life on the big screen and even inspired its very own theme park in Orlando, Florida - but the Brit reveals there was one big proposal she rejected, even though it came from the King of Pop himself.
In a candid new interview with talk show queen Oprah Winfrey, which aired in the U.S. on Friday, October 1, she says, "Michael Jackson wanted to do a musical."
"I said no to a lot of things. For me, I love the films, I love the books, and there's elements that I love around it... like the theme park. But I only wanted to do it because I knew it would be incredible."

Good for her - that would be sacriligious...he molested children..Harry Potter books are loved by children.
Please, an actual musical about Harry Potter would have sucked. Everyone knows it. She made the right call.

I feel something's not right with this article, I feel the comments have been taken out of context and the media are playing games with us again. It would be better to listen /watch the full interview then decide. For starters, I dont think JKR would say that about MJ, no one in their right mind would turn down Michael Jackson. And even if she did, then God gave him something much better: Cirque Du Soleil, which I know for a FACT will be spectacular.

RATHER MICHAEL IS ONE OF SOMEONES FAVS OR NOT IT JUST STANDS TO REASON THAT COMMON SENSE WOULD KICK IN AND YOU WOULD SAY TO YOURSELF BUT HE IS A FAV OF THE MASSES. THAT ALONE WILL MAKE IT A SUCCESS. Something doesn't sound right. She was OK with books, movies, and even a themepark but doing musicals with Michael Jackson at the helm and she thought it won't be successful, give me a break.What's her real reason, because everything MJ touched turned to gold so what was her problem?
Everyone wants to mention michael jackson to promote whatever they have done or re-introduce it. It was not nesessary to mention the proposal now that michael jackson is dead, and became famous. It is very sad.
