Jimi Hendrix's Home Opened to Public on His 40th Death Anniversary


The musician's Mayfair apartment, where Hendrix lived in the late 1960s, will be filled with memorabilia and artifacts on the 40th anniversary of his death.

The London flat Jimi Hendrix once called home is to be opened to the public to mark the 40th anniversary of the guitar great's death. The Mayfair apartment, where Hendrix lived in the late 1960s, will be filled with memorabilia and artifacts donated by Seattle, Washington's Experience Music Project.

Items on display to fans will include the handwritten directions to the "Isle of Wight" Hendrix scribbled on the back of a map, an orange velvet stage jacket, and the original handwritten lyrics of "Stepping Stone" and "Love or Confusion".

Curator Sarah Bardswell tells Rolling Stone magazine, "It will be a blank space but it will allow your imagination to run wild thinking about what Hendrix did here. Serious Hendrix fans are awed by the experience. They get a real good sense of Hendrix spending time here."
