AceShowbiz - Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have been praised for maintaining their pale looks - experts predict they could help lower skin cancer rates among impressionable teenagers. The British hunk shot to fame as vampire Edward Cullen in "Twilight", while his co-star and rumored girlfriend Stewart is equally as pale-skinned in the movie franchise.
And the pair has been credited with giving youngsters the confidence to step out without a tan - which will ultimately help lower cancer rates. Dr. Raj Mallipeddi says, "People have to want to resemble the individual giving the message. If that image comes in vogue then people will follow suit and ultimately that could be better for people's skin."
Eric Jimenz from Urban Decay Cosmetics adds, "Due to films such as 'Twilight', people see that pale skin can still be sophisticated, timeless and glamorous." More than 80,000 cases of skin cancer are reported every year in the U.K. alone.
