Feige and producer Jeremy Latchem tease Marvel Phase Three, saying that Spider-Man will serve a great purpose in the MCU and 'Guardians of the Galaxy' won't include earth bound heroes.

AceShowbiz - Marvel Phase Three will officially begin when "Captain America: Civil War" hits U.S. theaters on May 6, 2016. The studio has already set up some big plans for the Cinematic Universe including releasing three movies a year starting from 2017. Marvel President Kevin Feige and "The Avengers" producer Jeremy Latchem, who recently attended "Avengers: Age of Ultron" Q&A session in Hero Complex gallery Los Angeles, hinted that the studio did "great things" for Spider-Man and revealed the plans for future Marvel movies.

Feige was obviously happy of bringing Spider-Man into the MCU. He promised fans that the webslinger could serve a great purpose in the universe. "Making that agreement with Amy and Mike and Tom Rothmans at Sony was great and really amazing. On a personal level making these movies it means a lot because you can do great things with Spider-Man and he can serve a great purpose in our universe, and thats where he belongs," he said.

As Marvel holds the movie right of the wallcrawler, there will always be a desire to see Spider-Man in more Marvel movies. Feige then shared ideas about inserting Spider-Man into the plan the team already had leading towards "Avengers: Infinity War Part I". "The most important thing is the stand alone movie, relaunching Spider-Man with a stand alone movie with a new storyline that fits into this universe, thats job number one for us. And as is the case, the connectivity is great but it doesn't drive the train," Feige teased.

As the conversation went on, a topic about making a crossover movie between "Guardians of the Galaxy" and other Marvel heroes that exist on Earth was brought up. Unfortunately, Feige said that "Guardians of the Galaxy" was not likely to crossover with Earth-bound Marvel heroes.

"And certainly Thanos and the Infinity stones are the connection between all those movies and especially 'Guardians'. So I do think they'll be more crossover into that sector of the Marvel literal universe. When or if those specific characters start switching remains to be seen," Feige explained. "And the 'Guardians 2' team just left for Atlanta on Monday to start that movie, so all the 'Guardians' effort and thought is going to that - which is shaping up very nicely right now."

Latcham added that Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel would make appearance in Marvel's future films, but the team still tried to find a way to introduce the character so that she could fit the plot really well. "Very, very early in development, there was a notion that there could be a ton of new people. And then it was like, 'We haven't really introduced them. We don't know where they're gonna come from," he said. "Joss kind of did not love that idea... It was an early discussion. Then it became, 'We'll just see Captain Marvel.' Then that felt weird. Just to have one new person."
