Charlie Rowe Congratulates Tom Holland for Being the New Spider-Man
Movie

Rowe took to Twitter to congratulate his mate for getting the deal to play the young web-crawler, saying that he was pleased for him.

AceShowbiz - Tom Holland has been confirmed to play the new version of Spider-Man for an untitled new Spider-Man movie. Following the casting announcement, Charlie Rowe took to Twitter to congratulate Holland for getting the coveted superhero role.

Rowe shared a picture of him in his childhood wearing Spider-Man costume and captioned it, "Well done @TomHolland1996 , glad that tom's a mate, pleased for him. I thought I could've made quite a good spiderman."

Rowe and Holland both competed for the role and the two were the most likely candidates to play the young Peter Parker. Other contenders for the part included Asa Butterfield, Judah Lewis, Matthew Lintz and Charlie Plummer. They defeated thousands of actors in the casting process because they were both very capable for the role. Sony and Marvel did one more screen test because it was hard for them to pick between the two.

Rowe made his big-screen debut in Chris Weitz's adaptation of "The Golden Compass" in 2007. He later appeared in Richard Curtis' "Pirate Radio" and Mark Romanek's "Never Let Me Go". Additionally, the British actor recently took part on drama series "Red Band Society".

As for Holland, he will appear as the new web-crawler in 2017's "Spiderman" reboot. Rumor has it, the new web-slinger will be introduced earlier by joining other Marvel superheroes in 2016's "Captain America: Civil War".

Sony Pictures Motion Pictures Group Chairman Tom Rothman said of the new Spider-Man, "It's a big day here at Sony. For Spidey himself, we saw many terrific young actors, but Tom's screen tests were special. All in all, we are off to a roaring start."
