Tom Cruise is circling Disney's long-delayed movie "Bob: The Musical". While the "Mission: Impossible" star is pursued for the lead role, "The Artist" director Michel Hazanavicius is courted to helm the feature film.

The upcoming movie follows a story of a regular guy who can suddenly hear the songs in everyone's heart after getting hit on the head. The script is written by Allan Loeb who wrote 2012 musical "Rock of Ages", also starring Cruise.

The flick has been in development hell since 2004. It once attracted Phil Lord and Chris Miller ("The Lego Movie", "22 Jump Street") and Adam Shankman ("Hairspray", "Rock of Ages"). Last year, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez ("Frozen (2013)") were linked to write the music and lyrics.

Tom Cruise was last seen in "Edge of Tomorrow" and will next reprise his iconic role as Ethan Hunt in "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation". He will also star in "Mena", a thriller that reunites him with "Edge of Tomorrow" helmer Doug Liman. The film has just got a January 6, 2017 release date.
