Gushing about his hit and record breaking song, Wiz claims he was thinking about family in general when writing it.

In line with the success of the Paul Walker tribute song "See You Again", Wiz Khalifa opened up about the track, telling BET in an interview it "connects with so many people." He revealed that vocalist Charlie Puth initially wrote the lyrics about a friend who died in a car crash, and Wiz then took it over. "The fact that it connects with so many people, that's what is really, really important for me so I'm f**king with it," so he raved about the hit song.

The music star went on recalling, "My whole objective [when writing 'See You Again'] was to make something that everybody can connect with. It feels personal, but it's something that everybody can feel too. It's not so personal that you're disconnected to it." He continued, "Basically, that was my mind frame for it. Think about family in general. Not necessarily my family or someone else's family that everybody goes through in that situation."

"I had a lot of good direction from the 'Fast & Furious' people as far as the texture of the song and how they wanted it to feel," Wiz added. "What was most important, too, was to make sure that it was a celebration of life. You know, to reflect on things, but also just to celebrate what we've been through."

"See You Again" was featured as one of the soundtracks of the box office hit movie "Furious 7". The song has broken the record for the most streams in a single day, garnering 4.2 million listens, and the most streams in a single week in 26 countries beginning from April 6 to April 12. Its commercial success then pushed the film's soundtrack album to top the Billboard 200.
