According to a recent report, the new Spider-Man movie will feature an African-American or Latino webslinger as the main star.

AceShowbiz - A new report regarding the upcoming Spider-Man movie has emerged. Following the announcement of the deal between Sony and Marvel earlier this month, fans have been excitedly talking about the new film such as the possible cast. According to a recent report, the untitled new Spider-Man movie may feature an African-American or Latino instead of a white man.

The story was revealed by TheWrap's Jeff Sneider at a recent Meet the Movie Press session. "Listen, this is not set in stone guys, but I'm telling you right now, Spider-Man's not going to be white. Spider-Man's not going to be white. I'm 95|percent| sure. Spider-Man's going to be most likely black. But there's a chance he could also be Latino. 95|percent| sure, not white," he explained.

The statement contradicts a previous report suggesting that Dylan O'Brien and Logan Lerman were linked to the role. The previous report additionally suggested that the upcoming movie will be set in high school.

Peter Parker has been the main character in the previous Spider-Man movies, but many fans are excited to see Miles Morales. Morales, whose father is African-American and mother is Puerto Rican, is also a geek like Parker and gains his power from a spider bite.

The new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel movie, possibly "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", before getting his own solo movie which is set for release on July 28, 2017.
