Martin Donovan Lands 'Pivotal' Role in 'Ant-Man'

The 'Weeds' star joins Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and Carey Stoll in the Peyton Reed-directed movie.

AceShowbiz - "Ant-Man" adds another actor, namely Martin Donovan, to the cast ensemble. His role is still under wraps, but the Hollywood Reporter learns that the "Weeds" actor will play a "pivotal" character in the upcoming Marvel film directed by Peyton Reed.

Paul Rudd plays Scott Lang, Michael Douglas portrays Dr. Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly stars as his daughter Hope Van Dyne and Corey Stoll is cast as Yellowjacket. They are joined by Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pena, Judy Greer, John Slattery and T.I..

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. It's due July 17, 2015 in North America.

Donovan has starred in movies like "Trust", "Simple Men" and "The Book of Life". On TV, he appeared on "Ghost Whisperer", "The Firm" and "Homeland". He will next be seen in Paul Thomas Anderson's "Inherent Vice" which will hit U.S. theaters on December 12.
