The first teaser for "" season 5 has made its way out for viewing pleasure. Sharing footage from the upcoming installment, the video sees Carrie () getting confronted by Saul (), possibly for leaving her old job following her mistakes in the last season.

"You turned your back on your entire life - what are you atoning for? Keeping America safe?" Saul asks her. "You're being naive and stupid, something you never were before." Carrie responds that she's not atoning, adding, "I'm just trying to do good work."

"" is adding four new series regular for its upcoming season 5. Sebastian Koch, , Alexander Fehling and Sarah Sokolovic have been cast in various roles, including Carrie's new boss and boyfriend.

German actor Koch ("") will play Otto During, a German philanthropist who is also Carrie's boss. Otto, known for her role as Eowyn in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, will star as Allison Carr, the current Berlin Chief of Station, working directly under Saul Berenson.


Confirmed: 'Homeland' Season 5 to Be Filmed in Germany

"" is heading for Europe for production of its upcoming fifth season. Showtime and Fox 21 Television Studios have confirmed that the show's new installment will be filmed at Studio Babelsberg in Berlin, marking the first American television series to ever shoot a full season entirely in Germany.

The fifth season will pick up two years after Carrie Mathison's () ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the "war on terror," Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm.


'Homeland' Producer Says ISIS Is 'Too Evil' for the Show

Speaking at the opening night of PaleyFest in Los Angeles over the weekend, executive producer Alex Gansa said ISIS was too vile and there's no way they could humanize them. "We're one of the few shows that gets to really comment on current events. We take that responsibility very seriously," he said.

He explained as quoted by The Daily Mail, "It's a very good question because Homeland for the last four seasons has tried to portray our adversaries and tried to humanize them. And if you look at Abu Nazir, even look at Brody, or look at Haqqani this past season there was a real effort to make their concerns and their lives understandable. That is very hard to do with ISIS."

Big changes are coming into "" after the dark season 4 which became some kind of "reboot" for the series following the death of ' Brody in season 3. In the next season, the Showtime series plots a new scene for Carrie. It will take place two and a half years after things ended at the last season.

"The story will be set in Germany, in Berlin," co-creator Alex Gansa told The Hollywood Reporter. "We have our fingers crossed we'll shoot in Berlin...[in that time Carrie will] be trying to come to terms with her life in the Central Intelligence Agency [and] dealing with what she felt at the very end of season four, which is disillusionment and disdain about it. So she'll actually be out of the agency."

In the December 21 outing titled "Long Time Coming", Saul () confronted CIA black ops specialist Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham) for making a deal with wanted militant Haissam Haqqani (Numan Acar) and Dar explained his move by making a reference to the 1946 bombing of the Jerusalem hotel by the Irgun.

"Menachem Begin killed 91 British soldiers at the King David Hotel before becoming Prime Minister," Dar said in the scene. The right-wing Jewish underground group was under the command of Begin during the attack, which was launched to fight against British mandate in the country, before Israel's independence was proclaimed in 1948.


Showtime Boss on 'Homeland' Quiet Season Finale: 'There Needed to Be a Political Conclusion'

The fourth season finale of "" is a complete opposite of the third season finale which ended with the death of ' Brody. While some found the low-key finale reasonable and refreshing, others complained about the "slow" episode.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Showtime president David Nevins defends the quiet finale. "We went out of season three with this massive ending, with the death of Brody. And I think a show with this amount of political and narrative complexity can do a last episode that has a change of pace. I thought they needed to do an episode back in Washington, and needed to deal with Carrie's family situation and her issues with motherhood," he says.

A preview to tease the season finale of "" has been released. Titled "Long Time Coming", episode 12 of season 4 is set to air on Showtime on December 21 and now fans can see some sneak peek of Quinn in action and an upset Carrie.

Some scenes in the 44-second video show Carrie () doing some investigation and apparently seeing surprising results. It also teases Saul () and Quinn ()'s appearances. "What are you playing at Carrie?" Dar Adal asks when he meets Carrie. "I call it 'give me what I f**king want,' " she answers.

With less than a month before "" returns, Showtime hypes it up with a new trailer for season 4. Sharing new footage, it offers a longer look at new cast member as CIA Chief Sandy Bachman, who appears to be in trouble as some local people, who look unhappy, walk towards him.

The video also suggests that Carrie may intentionally avoid motherhood as she is seen telling her sister Maggie, "I told you they're sending me back, I don't have a choice." Maggie replies, "I don't believe you." Carrie will also face the angers of local people who attack her car.

Showtime has debuted the first trailer for "" season 4 to tide fans over the Sunday, October 5 return of the show. It sees ' Carrie Mathison in Pakistan as CIA case officer to stop terror threats in the country following the pullout of U.S. forces in Afghanistan.

The video offers a glimpse of Carrie's baby, whom she left at home because "the place that she's in now is a place where you cannot have dependents," showrunner Alex Gansa explained. She is joined by 's Quinn, but it appears that their relationship is not in the best term this time.

Shots of a demonstration, Carrie mingling with local people and 's Saul Berenson frantically running are also shared. The video additionally gives a first look at as Aayan Ibrahim, "a medical school student studying in Islamabad whose path crosses with Carrie and becomes a significant person of interest for her."
