'Amazing Spider-Man 2' May Have Shailene Woodley Starring as Mary Jane
Movie

In addition to M.J., the sequel to this year's Marc Webb-directed Spidey film reportedly will see Electro as one of the villains and feature Peter Parker's friend-turned-nemesis Harry Osborn.

AceShowbiz - Peter Parker will likely have Mary Jane Watson back as his leading lady in Marc Webb's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". Variety breaks the news that young talent Shailene Woodley is entering early talks with Sony Pictures to tackle the part of Peter's redheaded lover in the sequel to this year's hit "The Amazing Spider-Man".

The actress who played George Clooney's daughter in "The Descendants" is said to be Sony's top choice for the role, which was previously made famous by Kirsten Dunst in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" trilogy. Though Mary Jane will likely appear in the sequel, Emma Stone is still expected to reprise her role as Peter's first love Gwen Stacy, who in the comic book is described as having a tragic death.

Aside from M.J., "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" reportedly will feature some other famous characters in the Spidey world. Rumor has it, Electro is considered as one of the villains and Harry Osborn is also reported to be brought to the second movie. The studio is currently seeking for an actor to play Harry, who was portrayed by James Franco in the Sam Raimi version.

To bring back Andrew Garfield as the titular masked vigilante, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is scheduled to hit the U.S. theaters in 3D on May 2, 2014. The script will be provided by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner based on a previous draft written by James Vanderbilt.

The first "Amazing Spider-Man" flick was released nationwide on July 3 this year. It successfully raked in more than $751 million worldwide.
