Joanne Smith was busted in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday, July 13 afternoon after Daniel made legal moves to divorce her and won a restraining order against her.
Shortly after news broke out that Daniel Baldwin has filed for divorce, his wife Joanne Smith was reported to have gotten arrested. According to TMZ, the former fashion model-turned-chef was busted for a probation violation in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday, July 13 afternoon.
Exact details on what incident led to Joanne's arrest have yet to be disclosed. Still, TMZ reported that a booking sheet notes the woman, who has been married to the "Grey Gardens" actor since 2007, is being held for "Probation Violation Driving Under Infl of Intox."
Hours earlier, Daniel revealed that he has filed for divorce from Joanne. In a statement about the separation, the 50-year-old actor said, "Due to recent events in our home and for the safety of my children and myself, I have made this decision. I have had my share of problems with drugs and alcohol many years ago and know first hand how difficult a position she is in."
The younger brother of Alec Baldwin made the legal moves just a day after winning a restraining order against his wife. He has since had her removed from the Oregon house where he lives with their two young children, and got temporary custody of daughters, Avis Ann and Finley Rae Martineau.
In his petition for the restraining order, Daniel claimed that Joanne had made multiple threats to kill him in front of their two children. The actor recalled in his declaration, obtained by TMZ, the one time Joanne came out of their bedroom, claiming she had just watched a documentary on women who killed their husbands.
Daniel continued to note, "She exclaimed, 'Now I know how to do it, I understand why they did it. You have been warned. Move out of this house or I am going to kill you.' " He added, "This was said in front of our two children. My older daughter, Avis, asked me later 'Is mommy going to kill us?' "
