'Underworld 4' Changes Title From 'New Dawn' to 'Awakening'

No longer subtitled 'New Dawn', the vampire-ridden movie starring Kate Beckinsale has been officially called 'Underworld: Awakening'.

AceShowbiz - The upcoming fourth installment of "Underworld" movie series has got an official title from Sony Screen Gems. After previously bearing a tentative title "Underworld 4: New Dawn", the Kate Beckinsale-starring film is now officially called "Underworld: Awakening".

A follow-up to 2009's "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans", the movie will follow Selene (Beckinsale) as she escapes imprisonment. After being held in a coma-like state for fifteen years, she learns that she has a fourteen-year-old vampire/Lycan hybrid daughter, Nissa. Once they are reunited, the twosome fight to stop BioCom from creating super Lycans that will kill them all.

The actress who will play Nissa hasn't been announced, but an additional cast who will team up with the daughter/mother duo has been revealed. Michael Ealy aka Marshall Vogel of "FlashForward" has been tapped to portray a police detective who will help them in their journey to bring BioCom down.

The movie has Swedish directing team Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein serving behind the lens with the script provided by J. Michael Straczynski and John Hlavin. This upcoming action thriller is slated for January 20, 2012 release Stateside.
