Losing the top spot to Barbra Streisand, Mariah Carey debuts at No. 3 and Paramore sit at No. 2 on Billboard Hot 200.
Neither Mariah Carey nor Paramore rules Billboard Hot 200 this week as they have lost the hot spot to Barbra Streisand. "Love Is the Answer", the latest record from the singer with the most No. 1 albums, sold 180,000 copies. Meanwhile, Paramore's "Brand New Eyes" and Mariah's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" could only scan 175,000 and 168,000 units respectively.
With such number, Paramore sit at number two on the U.S. albums chart and Mariah follows at the third place. First week sale projection from Billboard actually had estimated either Paramore or Mariah could be crowned this week's champ, but both of them miss the spot. The final result is not quite a surprise as according to HITS Daily Double, Barbra had come to the second place between Paramore and Mariah per October 6.
Commenting on her achievement of scoring No. 1 on Hot 200, Barbra said, "I want to share that honor with all of you.. my fans, my friends.. who have made that possible. I want to share it as well with Diana Krall and Tommy LiPuma and everyone who worked on the album... with Jay Landers and especially my manager Marty Erlichman and my team at Columbia Records. You'd think that getting the news that you've been Number One in five consecutive decades would make you feel old, but this makes me feel young. Thank you all."
Though failing to reach No. 1 on Hot 200, Mariah's "Imperfect Angel" manages to become a champion on another Billboard chart. The effort debuts atop R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, becoming her fifth album to reach the top spot on the chart.
As for Paramore, this band experience their highest charting album and best week sale with "Brand New Eyes". They had their peak position at number 15 on Hot 200 when they came out with their sophomore set "Riot!" in 2007. "To our fans, friends and family ... thank you for once again allowing us to exceed any expectation we could ever set for ourselves," frontwoman Hayley Williams told MTV News. "Every goal we've ever had has become a reality thanks to your support and we're stoked to share all of it with you."
Other new releases which reach Top 10 of the U.S. albums chart include Breaking Benjamin's "Dear Agony", Madonna's "Celebration" and Selena Gomez's "Kiss and Tell".
