Barbra Streisand Beats Mariah Carey and Paramore on Hot 200

"Love Is the Answer", the latest record from the singer with the most No. 1 albums, sold 180,000 copies. Meanwhile, Paramore's "Brand New Eyes" and Mariah's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" could only scan 175,000 and 168,000 units respectively.
With such number, Paramore sit at number two on the U.S. albums chart and Mariah follows at the third place. First week sale projection from Billboard actually had estimated either Paramore or Mariah could be crowned this week's champ, but both of them miss the spot. The final result is not quite a surprise as according to HITS Daily Double, Barbra had come to the second place between Paramore and Mariah per October 6.

Barbra Streisand receives France's top civilian honor. The music star has been awarded with a medal of the Legion of Honor Thursday June 28th, just days after performed a concert in Paris as part of her first-ever European tour.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy presented Streisand with the award in a ceremony attended by the likes of French crooner Charles Aznavour and actor Alain Delon. "You are the America that we love," he said on the singer. "Women like you ... do a lot to bring our two peoples together."

Not enough preparation time for the kick off show, Barbra Streisand has to scrap off the date in Rome. This has been confirmed by the tour's organizer to have nothing to do with the recent the Italians' protest regarding the extravagant ticket price.
"We met with unexpected production delays," tour promoter Michael Cohl wrote on the web of Milano Concerti, the Italian organizer of the event. "We deeply apologize to the fans in Rome." Purchased tickets that were criticized to have unreasonable price will be available for refund or can be exchanged for her other European show.

Barbra Streisand's tour, which is known to reach high gross, apparently has infuriated the Italians who claim that the tickets' price is unreasonable. As a result they want Streisand's concert in Stadio Flamino, Rome next month to be pulled.
The Italians that are represented by The Adusbef and Codacons group sought the help from the authority to settle this matter. The group also encouraged the city of Rome and the Italian Olympic Committee to stop Streisand from performing in the June 15 night.

Barbra Streisand's 20-concerts tour in 2006 not only resulted in the high gross tickets but also added extra pennies to Streisand's pocket. Streisand: The Tour will be made in hard copies under the title "Live in Concert 2006".
The double disc album containing Streisand's 23 golden hits will be out on May 8 via Columbia Records. It will feature songs such as "Unusual Way", "Funny Girl", "People" as well as Streisand's collaboration with Il Divo in "Evergreen", "The Music of the Night" and "Somewhere".

Notwithstanding with the time changing, The Rolling Stones remains great. The Rock 'n' Roll band has topped the list of the Biggest-Grossing North American Tours of 2006, selling 138.5 million dollars worth of tickets for their 'A Bigger Bang' shows.
The tour, which includes 39 shows across the United States and Canada, is the third-highest on Pollstar's all-time list, behind the Stones' 2005 tour ($US162 million), and Irish rock band U2's trek that same year ($US138.9 million). Back on the 2006 list, behind the rockers is Barbra Streisand who's taking in $US92.5 million for just 20 shows.

Two-time Academy Award-winning singer Barbra Streisand returns to the stage on Wednesday, launching her first proper concert tour in over a decade, and the biggest of her career. This is the first time ever the songbird going back on the road after declaring she was giving up live performances six years ago.
Speaking on her comeback to music scene, Streisand said it is her desire to raise money for her favorite charities that encourages her to embark on the tour. "That's the main reason I'm going back on the road now," she told Oprah Winfrey's O magazine. And hence the money will be distributed through her own philanthropic foundation.
