The 2009 Tony Awards was held Sunday night, June 7, at Radio City Music Hall, New York, and Anne Hathaway has added a touch of glamor to its red carpet. Choosing to go classic, the movie star wore a strapless black Oscar de la Renta dress with a feather-print sheer skirt and finished off her look with red satin peep-toe pumps and simple jewelry.
Before heading inside, the 26-year-old who is expected to star as Viola in the Shakespeare in the Park production of "Twelfth Night" was spotted posing on the red carpet by herself or accompanied by other celebrities, including John Stamos. During the ceremony honoring achievement in live American theatre itself, the "Bride Wars" actress introduced the musical performance by Hair.
Beside Hathaway, Allison Janney, Poison singer Brett Michaels, Chandra Wilson, Colin Hanks, Dolly Parton, Liza Minnelli and Marcia Gay Harden were seen among the attendees. Presenters Jeff Daniels, Edie Falco, Will Ferrell, Jane Fonda, James Gandolfini, Jessica Lange and Kevin Spacey also made time to pose for the press during their red carpet appearance.
The 63rd Tony Awards was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. At the gala ceremony, it was uncovered that "Billy Elliot, The Musical" swept the Broadway's top kudos with 10 Tony Awards on hand.
