Amidst the speculation that Vanessa Hudgens is considered for Leah Clearwater role in "New Moon", the 20-year-old actress has been further reported to have auditioned for the part. On the newly-developed speculation, MTV reported that the casting news came from "Twilight" actress Ashley Greene at an afterparty for the 66th Golden Globe Awards, Sunday, January 11.
Giving more on her thought of Hudgens potentially taking the role of the only Quileute's female werewolf, the actress who will return to "New Moon" as Alice Cullen reveals that she would be happy to share screen with the "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" star. "I think she'd be great," so she claimed.
Other than the casting report, Greene also shared update on the development status of the "Twilight" sequel, unveiling that there might be another rewrite on the script. "I hear they're doing another rewrite," the 21-year-old said, "I'm with you guys - I'm so excited to read it."
An adaptation to Stephenie Meyer's second novel of her "Twilight" series, "New Moon" is penned by "Twilight" screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg. Please NO Venessa!!!! She is to a high profile actress and the chances that she will demand a substancial amount because of her "fame" and does not justify the part of Leah. I agree that Leah's character is to agressive for Venessa. The fact that she might bring a larger audience is however a possibility.

Contd...since well the studio is ultimatly in the business of making money and Vanessa H. in a teen film= money. She also does have a native American look to her, the Asian eyes and tan skin make her in a way ideal for the job. Now if the argument is height, well they cast that one guy as Jacob and he is not exactly built and tall like in the book. So clearly there not casting the roles to exact specifications.
Lol, I hope she gets cast, she's a total babe and has the name recognition to convince the studio exects, not that they need much hype after Pattison became an A-lister over night. The Disney following might bring a widder demographic of fans to see twilight 2 in theathers, and help the studio get a hold of the coveted pre-teens and early teen girls that are the new target audience to make a movie a success.

Zac effron to play seth? the director and everybody needs to pay attention to how the book is and how the people want it to be. It seems that they just want to rake in more money. cuz that may be whats going to happen if she gets it. Sorry, Disney is one thing, THIS is a another..I would really rather watch the movie with Twilight Fans and not 7 year old High School Musical ones.
This movie isnt about leah at all. and it would be awkward just to watch her act in it. and all the actors werent doing it for fame at all! they didnt know how big it was going to get. and it would just be something for her to get more attention in. especially take a look at all shes done. its all disney! you can't just switch over to more mature movies. I dont think she would be doing it for the right reasons. And no offense but not everybody who is a twilight fan is a fan of her. She attracts younger kids. And the producers cant always see that because they arent out in the "real world" If you really look at twilight and compare the book to it. it kinda did suck..not the ppl but the story line. but in new moon and the rest of the movies i wouldnt really want to watch it. and im a big fan of the books : ) but they're going to have to make it better and thats not going to happen if she gets cast. she would ruin it for everybody. too sweet and pretty for the character almost like she cares more about her looks then the way she acts. They cant do this. its worse than them thinking about switching taylor to the other guy. She would just put the movie to shame. I agree she's to high profile of an actress to play Leah... Plus i get the feeling that since she's used to being the star she wouldn't take to well to being shoved into the background. Leah doesn't even have that big of a role until Breaking Dawn anyway thats when we really get to know her... And it's also true that Summit isn't disney and only Jackson could really pull off that disney to actual quality film transition. Vanessa just doesn't have the right soul for this... she's to bubbly and perky where Leah is so filled with pain... I think someone more like Jennifer Redbird if she were a bit older or better yet Q'Orianka Kilcher she would be good too i think..

OMG! No! Vanessa will totally mess up the movie. Attention will be attracted away from Kristen and Robert and onto her. The film ain't supposed to be about her! Leah's role ain't that important until Breaking Dawn anyway. Vanessa probably thinks she get attention b/c shes in the most popular film of the decade, but she needs to think again. She is soooooooo not right for this role; she's just too perky with a happy-go-lucky attitude, while Leah is supposed to be sad and down. I wanted to see the movie but now I'm thinking twice. Vanessa could never pull the role of Leah off.
if it were rly between vanessa and brenda, i'd say vanessa all the way! i think she might actually be able to surprise us but i still think it wud be best to cast an unknown actress for leah
