People magazine has made public the first pictures of Ricky Martin's twin boys, Matteo and Valentino, who were born via surrogate mother.
Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin debuts his twin sons on this week's issue of People magazine, goes on sale Friday, December 12. In one pic, debuted on the publication's site, Ricky is shown carrying his boys, named Matteo and Valentino, on both of his hands while standing on a sea side.
In an exclusive interview with People, he says he's "so happy" with the arrival of the boys. "Everything they do, from smiling to crying, feels like a blessing. Being a father feels amazing. This has been the most spiritual moment in my life," he admits.
He, furthermore, claims to be enjoying his new fatherhood role, telling People, "I don't have a nanny. I'm doing this on my own because I don't want to miss a moment." He adds, "I have a personal assistant who helps me, someone who takes care of me while I'm taking care of them, but I'm the one who changes the diapers, the one that feeds them, the one that bathes them, the one that puts them to sleep."
Back in August this year, a representative for Ricky Martin broke the news that the singer fathered twin boys via surrogate mother. "In recent weeks, Ricky Martin became a proud father by the birth of twin sons," the representative told People, adding that "The children, delivered via gestational surrogacy, are healthy and already under Ricky's full-time care."
At that time, it was also revealed Ricky would "begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order to spend time with his children."
In addition to the interview and pics of Matteo and Valentino, Ricky also gives People a peek on the boys' nursery, which are all featured on this week's issue of People.
