Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd are in final negotiations to join ABC's daytime show "The View".

Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd are two strong candidates to be added to "The View". The two stars are in final negotiations to join the ABC daytime show as regular cast members following the departure of Rosie O'Donnell and former co-host Star Jones Reynolds.

Details on the negotiation are being kept under wrap and will not be made public until next week.

Goldberg, an American actress, comedian, radio DJ, and author, is known for her liberal politics and barbed comedy. She and Shepherd are both familiar to "The View" audience after having made guest appearances on the program.

On April 25, 2007, O'Donnell announced she would be leaving the show as a co-host when her contract expires in June because she and the network could not come to terms on the length of a new contract. She planned to return as an occasional correspondent though.
