Strait No. 1 on the U.S. Pop Charts



George Strait's 28th album "Somewhere Down in Texas" topped the U.S. pop charts Wednesday, sold 245,000 copies in the week ended July 3

Counting down time, Country veteran George Strait has already produced numbers of album and his now "Somewhere Down in Texas" becoming the 28th of his career. Experienced a lot in working music album, his latest one successfully topped the U.S. pop charts Wednesday for its third consecutive, sold 245,000 copies in the week ended July 3. Right after Strait was hip-hop duo Ying Yang Twins, whose "U.S.A.: United States of Atlanta" sold for 201,500 copies.

Halted by Strait's attainment, Coldplay's "X&Y" slipped to number three with 140,000 discs sold and soon followed by "The Emancipation of Mimi" by Mariah Carey, which fell two places to No. 4 with 130,500 copies. The No. 5 spot reigned by Cassidy's "I'm a Hustla," which was sold 93,000 copies, while at No. 6 was Black Eyed Peas' "Monkey Business" with 90,000 copies. Foo Fighters' "In Your Honor" dropped four to No. 7 with 88,000 copies, while No. 8 to 10 in sequence were; Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway," Gwen Stefani's "Love. Angel. Music. Baby.," and Toby Keith's "Honkytonk University."
