The list of 2011 National Film Registry selections has been unveiled. 1994's "Forest Gump", which starred , and 1991's "The Silence of the Lambs", which boasted the performance of and , are chosen to be preserved as cultural, artistic and historical treasures in the National Registry of the Library of Congress this year.
Walt Disney's 1942 classic animated film "Bambi" and Charlie Chaplin's first feature length comedy "The Kid" (1921) also make it onto the list. The selected 25 films, which are picked from 2,228 titles nominated by the public, span the period from 1912 to 1994 and include an eclectic mixture of feature films, documentaries, short subjects and experimental films.
