Gearing up for the production of "The Avengers" which reportedly will start this April, Marvel Studios is said looking for an actress to fill one of the final roles. Some names which have surfaced in the contention are Morena Baccarin, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jessica Lucas and Cobie Smulders.

The girls on the shortlist are unveiled by The Hollywood Reporter after Samuel L. Jackson said on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" on Wednesday, February 2, "I gotta screen test, like, five actresses on Friday. They have this new character that's my sidekick that's with me all the time." Also on the talk show, the actor confirmed that he will reprise his role as Nick Fury on "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger".

Darren Criss was brought in to "Glee" as a potential love interest of Chris Colfer's Kurt but apparently, the writers would like to give this romance a little twist. In a sneak peek to the show's Valentine's Day episode, Blaine is singing Robin Thicke's "When I Get You Alone" to another guy.

Kurt was also in the performance number but he was sulking while Blaine chased his way through a GAP store employee who looked bewildered. Words are, Blaine has a secret past that makes Kurt devastated. Producer Brad Falchuck said in the latest issue of TV Guide that Blaine is not perfect after all.

"That's So Raven" actor Tyrone Burton was handcuffed by the roadside on Thursday, February 3 after cops suspected him of selling bootleg DVDs. The "Parent 'Hood" star was believed to be selling illegal films on a sidewalk in Hollywood when police busted him.

Burton was handcuffed, but after officers found no evidence that he had broken the law, they let him go, reports TMZ.com.

Representatives for "Glee" star Dianna Agron and her boyfriend Alex Pettyfer have shot down reports the couple is engaged, insisting rumors of an impending wedding are "not true". The actress has been dating the British star since they met on the set of upcoming sci-fi movie "I Am Number Four" last year.

Agron sent gossips into a spin in November 2010 when she was photographed wearing a ring on her wedding finger, but she has remained tight-lipped about an engagement. Last month, Pettyfer dodged questions about the relationship by saying, "I'm just very happy in my personal life," while Agron recently opened up about her "sweet" partner.

Raekwon is going to debut a music video in support of his new single "Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang" later this month. In anticipation of the premiere, the Wu-Tang Clan member releases a sneak peek to tease what to expect from the forthcoming video.

The song comes from Raekwon's new album of the same name "Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang" which is due in the U.S. on March 8. Talking about the title with Entertainment Weekly, he insisted "It's not nothing derogatory towards Wu [Tang]."

Super Bowl spot for "Drive Angry" has been unleashed earlier before it is aired on TV this Sunday. It boasts the combination of 3-D and action scenes which can been enjoyed best in theaters. While there are not many new scenes shared, the snippet tries to further convince audience by featuring some positive quotes from critics reviews with one of them saying it is "Nicolas Cage at his action-packed best".

The film follows Cage's Milton who has to chase the people who murdered his daughter and kidnapped her baby within three days before they sacrifice his infant granddaughter beneath a full moon. He is joined by Piper, a young sexy-smart waitress who liberates her ex-boyfriend's cherry red muscle car in order to help Milton.

If one thought Los Angeles as the city of entertainment would offer more "American Idol" talents than the other audition cities, they are wrong. More people with eccentricities came to the place than the ones with real singing voice.

The last slot of the day is usually reserved for a real good singer but this time, it's this season's version of General Larry Platt. At 59 years old, Cooper Robinson is way overdue to be an "Idol" but he was there only as the show's attempt to insert comedy. He sang an awful rendition of "I Feel Good", the judges were left speechless and he left the place, knowing what they would say.

Anoop Desai has just released a music video for his new single "All Is Fair (Crazy Love)". The former contestant of "American Idol" season 8 is singing his heart out to the girl of his dreams. "But every time I get to the pre-chorus, she tries to kill me in a different way," he said. She sets fire on him and blows him up.

"It's a little funny, but it's definitely symbolic of the feeling you have when you're trying to make things work, but every time you get close, someone stabs you in the back," he told Billboard. "We visualize that in a couple ways. It's meant to be very fantastical, too. I love the video."

Following the first trailer that was debuted over a month ago, an international trailer for "Hanna" has now gone online. It has more scenes which reveal the other side of Hanna, who wants to have an ordinary life and make friends while she is raised to be a tough killer.

Raised by her father, an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Finland, Hanna's upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. Once she is ready, her father who is an ex-CIA man sends her into the world on a mission.

After rising the tempo in Benny Benassi-featured single "Beautiful People", Chris Brown is now slowing down in "Up to You". The 21-year-old singer previews the ballad track in a one-and-a-half-minute viral video featuring him miming the lyrics.

"Imma be the one to take a back seat girl/ We can take our time and you can run this/ Stay in, go out/ Anything you want girl, we can do," he croons. The love song is confirmed to be among new materials in his upcoming studio album "F.A.M.E."

The first trailer of "Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy" which was released late last month had triggered bad reactions not only from the convicted murderer's family but also the victim's parents. John Kercher whose daughter was murdered in an alleged sex game went wrong said the Lifetime movie is nothing but "distressing".

"It's so awful what these film people have done," John complained. "Your imagination runs riot as it is about what happened but to actually see it like this is very different and very distressing. I'm also surprised they went that far in the film. I was told the original brief and synopsis of the film was to take it up to the point of the killing but not actually show the killing itself. It's obvious from these pictures they are showing the killing."

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, "American Idol" is going to drop its first-time-ever "Greatest Hits" compilation. Scheduled to make its way out in the United States on March 15, the CD will feature 12 songs from the past winners and some notable contestants.

The nine winners ranging from the first season's champ Kelly Clarkson to the most recent Lee DeWyze are all listed. Solo songs from each one of them are chosen for the compilation, except for "No Air" which is a duet between Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown.

Foxy Brown star Pam Grier has Chinese herbal medicine to thank for her cancer all-clear - because western doctors suggested she turn to alternatives after traditional methods to cure her failed. The actress was diagnosed with stage four cancer in 1988 and given just months to live - but she's still going strong thanks in part to regular trips to Chinatown in Los Angeles.

During an appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on Thursday, February 3, she said, "My physician said, 'Western medicine has done all it can, I'm sending you to Chinatown. You'll meet these practitioners and you'll listen to them.' "

Rap veteran Scarface has spent the past four months behind bars after he was arrested for failing to keep up with multiple child support payments. The hip-hop star, real name Brad Jordan, was taken into custody by Texas police back in October 2010 and he has been held without bail ever since.

Seventies pin-up Pam Grier and comedian Richard Pryor's doomed 18-month romance ended when he took issue with her requests for him to wear a condom during sex. The actress' doctor told her that cocaine-user Pryor's sperm was harming her body - because it contained traces of the drug.

And he insisted she should demand protected sex. Former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star James Marsters has married his longtime girlfriend in a romantic ceremony in Los Angeles. The 48-year-old actor proposed to Patricia Rahman, 25, during a vacation in Germany in 2010.

The Hollywood producer credited with bringing Superman to life on the big screen has been found alive in a Mexican hospital, two days after he was reported missing. Ilya Salkind, 63, flew to his native Mexico City recently to oversee work on a property he inherited from his late mother.

Reports suggest he left the house on Sunday, January 30 to "handle some errands and get some dental work done" - but he never returned and friends filed a missing persons report with Mexican police on Tuesday, February 1. Investigators tracked Salkind down to a local hospital on Thursday morning, February 3, according to TMZ.com.

Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh has been hit with a paternity lawsuit from an Australian woman who alleges he fathered her daughter. Frances Lawrencina Anderson filed papers in Manhattan, New York on Wednesday, February 2, claiming the "Ocean's Eleven" filmmaker "has acknowledged that he is the father of the child" and has undergone a DNA test to confirm the paternity.

In the suit, Anderson also states Soderbergh helped to cover her medical expenses throughout her pregnancy, right up until the birth of baby Pearl in August 2010. Anderson claims she "had sexual intercourse" with the married director "on many occasions covering a period of time covering all possible dates of conception, including but not limited to December 2009".

NBC is not going to continue to "Chase". The drama series which debuted last Fall has been pre-empted before but this time, it would be permanent. The Peacock has yanked the show from its midseason schedule, giving the Wednesday slot solely to "Minute to Win It".

The network first did an experiment on February 2, applying a two-hour broadcast of the game show. Turns out "Minute" delivered a series-high number, including 3.0 adult demo rating at 9 P.M. which is better than "Chase" rating the night before. The series which is led by Jesse Metcalfe among others, only scored 1.2 rating in the same demographic.

Sean Kingston and Justin Bieber follow up their "Eenie Meenie" duet with another collaboration. The two hook up once again in a song called "Won't Stop" which has the Canadian artist not only singing but also spitting his verses.

New Superman movie is currently looking for the female lead and some new names emerge in the hunt. Words are, Alice Eve ("She's Out of My League"), Diane Kruger ("Inglourious Basterds") and Rosamund Pike ("Barney's Version") are contenders to star in the project tentatively called "The Man of Steel", but not as Lois Lane.

While the role possibly tackled by one of them is still undisclosed, The Playlist suggests that they might be seen as Cat Grant since the three beauties have blonde hair color which is similar to the character. Cat is a gossip columnist at The Daily Planet and was a love interest for Clark Kent, creating a sort of love triangle involving her, Clark and Lois.

New dad Ziggy Marley is set to become the latest celebrity comic book author after landing a release date for his Marijuanaman series. The Grammy Award-winning reggae star, who became a dad again last month, has teamed with Image Comics to turn his graphic novel idea into reality.

The project chronicles the tale of "a noble extraterrestrial champion, who has arrived on Earth to deliver an important message and at the same time save his own planet". Marley says, "Marijuanaman represents the hope of the future... the hope that we will utilise all of the power that the universe has given us to save our planet."

Jennifer Aniston's new scent is to launch in America after failing to set the fragrance market on fire in Britain. The perfume, named after the actress, will go on sale at Sephora stores next month.

Of the fragrance, which was initially called Lovalie, Aniston says, "I wanted this fragrance to be a personal library of scent memories. For example, my love of night blooming jasmine has lasted a lifetime. Growing up in California, I distinctly remember the scent of the Jasmine on summer evenings."

The actor son of The Queen's chief accountant Sir Alan Reid has joined the cast of the upcoming "William & Kate" TV movie - as Prince William's best pal Guy Pelly. Richard Reid originally auditioned for the role of the prince, but that part went to fellow newcomer Nico Evers-Swindell.

Reid admits he was relieved when he learned he wouldn't be playing the grandson of his father's boss - because he fears he would have had to turn the part down. He explains, "It probably wasn't a role I'd be able to do at the end of the day. I think my dad would have stepped in and put the brakes on it."

Whoopi Goldberg has launched a blistering attack on authorities in New York after council members voted in favor of extending the city's public smoking ban to all parks, plazas and beaches across the city.

The "Sister Act" star is furious the motion, which covers a wide expanse of outdoor areas, was passed during a New York City Council vote on Wednesday, February 2. Smoking was already outlawed in all indoor spaces open to the public, including restaurants and bars, but the new addition means those wanting to light up will also have to steer clear of park benches, beach boardwalks and similar recreational open-air areas - including the Big Apple's iconic Times Square.

Antonio Banderas has been dragged into a new legal spat between the board of New York's famous Dakota Building and a disgruntled tenant - over allegations the movie star was denied an apartment because of his Hispanic roots.

Businessman and philanthropist Alphonse Fletcher, Jr. - a former president of the Dakota's co-op board - claims his request to expand his apartment in the building was refused because he is black. He is suing the officials over what he calls "an extensive pattern of hostility toward non-white residents of the building".

New pictures from "Captain America: The First Avenger" have come out in the latest issue of Empire magazine which features the superhero on its cover page. Inside the magazine, there are pictures of Chris Evans' Steve Rogers getting shirty with Richard Armitage's Heinz Kruger, and his alter ego Captain America sporting a torn lip.

A representative for Juelz Santana has denied allegations linking the rapper to drugs and guns found during a police raid on his New Jersey recording studio last month, insisting the situation will be "cleared up".

The hip-hop star's Santana's World base was raided by officers from the New Jersey Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and Gang Unit on January 20. His protege Hynief was arrested after a search of the building allegedly turned up two loaded handguns with additional boxes of ammunition and a large stash of marijuana. He was subsequently freed after posting $50,000 bail.

Lady GaGa, Aretha Franklin and Billie Holiday will be among the stars honored at the world's first exhibit devoted entirely to the most influential female artists of all time. The Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power will be launched at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, turning the spotlight on 50 top singers in the industry and how the females have shaped the history of music.

Museum curators are also planning a benefit concert featuring Cyndi Lauper and rockabilly star Wanda Jackson to highlight the exhibition, which will open on May 13.

Tom Hanks is a first-time grandfather - his actor son Colin Hanks' wife Samantha Bryant has given birth to a baby girl. Olivia Jane Hanks was born on Tuesday, February 1 in Los Angeles, according to People.com. Hanks wed Bryant last summer, May 2010.

Their wedding was a star-studded one with Alyssa Milano, Reese Witherspoon and her fiance Jim Toth among the guests. "The family is home and everyone's happy and healthy," a source close to the actor said of the recent arrival of the bundle of joy.

The latest in the case of Halle Berry's split from model Gabriel Aubry is a statement from his ex-girlfriend. TMZ tracked the unnamed woman who was surprised that Gabriel would hook up with the actress because she knew him as a "borderline racist".

The woman said further that during their relationship between 2003 and 2005, Gabriel was also "very disrespectful to women". However, the ex said that Gabriel never once laid a hand on her. She plans to reach out to Halle in order to offer some support.

Grammy organizers continue to add more musical guests to its already-long list, and the newest performers are Mick Jagger and Raphael Saadiq. Both will be teaming up for the telecast's annual "In Memoriam" tribute, which pays homage to members of the music community who have passed away in the previous year.

In its 53rd annual celebration which is held February 13 at Los Angeles' Staples Center, NARAS will pay tribute to late soul artist Solomon Burke. The singer, who passed away in October 2010 at the age of 70, has opened for Jagger and his band The Rolling Stones several times during his career.

"Rango" is one of the films that will make use the Super Bowl XLV telecast to air its new TV spot. But instead of waiting for the Sunday's game, the promo video has been released online on February 3 via Apple.

It opens with scenes where Rango and another character talk about each other's funny things before a montage of short footage from the animation are featured and share the romance, action, explosions and other stuffs that will be seen as parts of Rango's adventure. Some owls, however, seem to be underestimating the lizard, saying it "is going to die."

USA Network has announced the return date of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" which would wrap up the whole story in eight episodes. The tenth season would debut May 1 at 9/8c, followed by a new season of "In Plain Sight" right on the next hour.

Back in September last year, USA announced that there would be no new season of "CI" due to a decline in rating. In order to give it a proper closure, the producers have asked Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe to return. Both agreed and they would kick off the final season as "the best detective teams in the history of television".

Blur rocker Alex James has announced plans to launch his own music festival at his farm in Oxfordshire, England. The bassist has long been a fan of countryside pursuits, and even makes his own cheese at his estate.

He is now expanding his business by combining his two passions into a food-themed music festival called Harvest, which will feature performances from artists including KT Tunstall and Steve Earle, as well as cookery workshops, pop-up restaurants and a farmers' market.

Neil Diamond's planned performance in Wellington, New Zealand has been axed - because promoters failed to find a suitable venue in the city. The "Sweet Caroline" hitmaker was due to play a show in the country's capital on March 4 but only outdoor arenas were available to host the concert.

Organizers insist Diamond's show can only be staged under cover because of "logistical challenges" - and the gig has now been canceled after a suitable indoor venue could not be located. In a statement, a spokesman for the promoters said "unforeseen production and logistical challenges associated with staging Neil Diamond's full show outdoors" had led to the cancellation.

Australian actor Richard Roxburgh has condemned the use of 3-D technology on new movie "Sanctum", insisting the temperamental new cameras turned the shoot into "a nightmare". The "Moulin Rouge!" star appears in the new action thriller as an explorer leading a group of divers through an underground caving system, fighting raging water as they search for an escape.

The film's executive producer James Cameron made Sanctum with the same 3-D technology he used in his blockbuster "Avatar", but Roxburgh insists he wasn't impressed with the new way of working. He says, "The 3-D element made our lives just a little more difficult. 3-D was a nightmare. Its camera is famously slow, and because it is new technology, it's fraught with issues. For instance, the camera runs very hot, and when it breaks down, it has to be rebooted and that takes time."

Jon Hamm organized a birthday party for his longtime girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt this week during filming of their new movie "Friends with Kids". The couple is currently shooting the upcoming comedy with Megan Fox and Adam Scott in New York, but they took time out from filming on Wednesday, February 2 to mark Westfeldt's 41st birthday.

Julia Roberts is in talks to take on Charlize Theron as Snow White's evil stepmother in a rival adaptation of the popular fairy tale. "Monster" star Theron has been cast as the villainous queen in upcoming fantasy film, "Snow White and the Huntsman", while "Twilight" actress Kristen Stewart was linked to the title role.

It has now emerged that Roberts is in talks to play the queen in a similar project called "The Brothers Grimm: Snow White", according to Variety. The film will be produced by "X-Men: The Last Stand" director Brett Ratner.

Selena Gomez's onscreen mother Maria Canals Barrera has confirmed the teenager's rumored romance with pop star Justin Bieber. The longtime friends are said to be romantically involved and gossip about a budding relationship was fueled when the young stars were photographed together on holiday in St. Lucia last month.

Barrera, who stars alongside Gomez in TV show "Wizards of Waverly Place", has now commented on the alleged relationship, revealing she approves of the match. She tells E! Online, "He's very sweet. French actress Maria Schneider has died at the age of 58 after a long illness. Schneider, best known as Marlon Brando's lover in Bernardo Bertolucci's 1972 movie "Last Tango in Paris", passed away in Paris, France on Thursday, February 3. She had been battling cancer.

The actress, whose dad was French actor Daniel Gelin, was just 19 when she was cast opposite Brando, then 48, in the romantic drama about a young Parisian woman and a middle-aged man who have an affair.

"I Need a Doctor" features Eminem and Alex's protege Skylar Grey. While the "Recovery" rapper was spotted filming the music video in downtown Los Angeles last month, it's unclear whether or not the signee of Alex's Wonderland Music imprint will make a cameo in the clip as well.

British rapper Tinie Tempah is set to showcase his dramatic talents after landing a role in a new movie. The London-born hip-hop star will try his hand at acting in filmmaker Noel Clarke's latest project, which features a part written specifically for Tempah.

And the "Written in the Stars" hitmaker insists he can't wait to make his move into film. He tells Britain's Daily Star, "Work schedule permitting, I'm definitely down for the role. I know my part. I always said if I ever got involved in acting I never wanted it to be a cliche role. I really wanted to get into a different character, so fingers crossed it'll work out. The part was written especially for me, which is cool."

Stevie Wonder is the latest legend to be inducted into the Apollo Theater's Hall of Fame in New York. The "Isn't She Lovely?" hitmaker will be named an Apollo icon in a ceremony in the Big Apple on June 13.

The honor will be a significant one for Wonder - he started his career at the Apollo in 1962 when he was just 12 years old, when he performed as a multi-instrumentalist and was dubbed the Wonder Child. The veteran performer will join a stellar list of former inductees, including Michael Jackson, Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin.

Slash's wife has been accused of assaulting a woman backstage at an Ozzy Osbourne concert in Los Angeles this week. The guitar legend opened for Osbourne at the L.A. show, and after the former Guns N' Roses star performed, an argument is said to have kicked off backstage between his wife, Perla, and an unnamed female.

Perla allegedly kicked the woman in the stomach when she spotted her talking to her husband, according to TMZ.com. The website reports the alleged victim refused medical attention, but later filed a police report naming Perla as her attacker.

Charlie Sheen has allegedly planned a side project which is a porn franchise. A porn star who goes by the name Felony says, "Charlie and I were having this great project and he was talking about performing in front of the camera. He goes, 'Let's call it Charlie's Devils!' "

The self-professed madame, who claims to have provided Charlie with "hundreds" of prostitutes over the last several years, reveals that they have made "a demo tape of his favorite sexual positions." A judge has given Michael Jackson's family the go-ahead to sue the organizers of the King of Pop's ill-fated London concerts. The superstar died in June, 2009 just weeks before he was due to take the stage in the British capital for a mammoth run of his "This Is It" shows.

Jackson's mother Katherine, along with his three children, took legal action against bosses at AEG Live, the company behind the concerts, accusing them of fraud, negligence, breach of contract and infliction of emotional distress.

In anticipation of Super Bowl XLV, Lil Wayne remixes Wiz Khalifa's breakout single "Black and Yellow" and dedicates it to his idol team, the Green Bay Packers. Weezy re-names the revamped track after signature colors of the football team, "Green and Yellow".

The cast and crew behind the "Harry Potter" franchise are to be honored with a special award at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) prizegiving. Potter author J.K. Rowling and producer David Heyman will accept the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema trophy at the ceremony later this month.

The hit films, about a boy wizard played by Daniel Radcliffe, will be recognized for showcasing British talent and providing a vast array of jobs for thousands of workers in the U.K. Radcliffe says, "I am thrilled that the Harry Potter film series is being honored with this award."

Kristen Stewart's publicist has slammed rumors she turned down the chance to play Lois Lane in the latest "Superman" reboot. The "Twilight" actress was rumored to be movie bosses' favorite to play the intrepid reporter in the new film opposite Brit Henry Cavill, who has been cast as the latest Man of Steel.

Michael J. Fox will be presented with a lifetime achievement award at Germany's most prestigious prizegiving later this month. The "Back to the Future" star, who has continued acting while battling debilitating Parkinson's disease since 1991, will receive the honor at the Golden Camera awards in Berlin on February 5.

Director Peter Jackson is recovering at home after he was released from hospital following surgery for a perforated ulcer. The "Lord of the Rings" moviemaker admitted himself into the Wellington Hospital in his native New Zealand last week after complaining of excruciating stomach pains.

He was operated on and spent several days recuperating at the medical facility until he was allowed to leave on Thursday, February 3, according to the Associated Press. His publicist Melissa Booth has added that disruptions to the already much-delayed "The Hobbit", which Jackson is directing, will be "minimal".

Charlie Sheen will be back on the set of his hit sitcom "Two and a Half Men" at the end of February following a month-long stint in rehab, according to the actor's representative. The troubled star was hospitalized in Los Angeles last week to treat a hernia after allegedly indulging in a wild night of partying.

He subsequently checked into a rehab-at-home program on Saturday, January 29, forcing work on his TV show to be suspended while he receives help. Miley Cyrus' new tattoo which is inked on her right ribcage has been revealed. The teen songstress, who's often criticized for her efforts of shedding her image as a child actress, was snapped unveiling the body art when she's going out with a friend earlier this week wearing a T-shirt with a hole cut on its side.

The tattoo is not clearly pictured, but her friend told People, "It's a picture of the dream catcher that hangs over her bed with four feathers to represent her four brothers and sisters." Miley's siblings are Brandi, 23, Trace, 21, Braison, 16, and Noah, 11, and "the dream catcher is to protect them."
