Allen Defeated in Movie-Editing Case

May 26, 2006 07:43:22 GMT

Previously dragged Jean Doumanian to court due to his objections to some of the edits she had conducted to his six films, Woody Allen sadly had to face the fact that he lost the case when New York judge stated that Doumanian still had the editing rights to the features on May 25.

The director had been particularly dissatisfied with her decision to replace certain words in the features instead of just bleeping them out, but Supreme Court Justice Bernard Fried decided to turn in favor on Doumanian, who argued that she preferred a word substitution as TV networks didn't really go for the bleep approach.

Coppola's Failed Attempt on Delon

May 26, 2006 03:46:04 GMT

Refusal is bitter, but that does not mean that it will stop one's determination to produce something and that was what Sofia Coppola exactly did when making her latest biopic film, "Marie Antoinette", which encountered its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday night of May 24.

The director originally intended to cast French cinema legend Alain Delon as Louis XV in the film, but much to her disappointment, the star in turn refused to join in. "I had a meeting with him and he told me he didn't want to be in the movie," so she told the newspaper Metro. "He thought it was not a good idea for an American to make a movie about a French story. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I was not going to let him stop me from making the movie," she added.

For those who wait in anticipation for the birth of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's first child, marking the calendar from now on to June 3 is probably worth to be carried out as the actress has determined to deliver her offspring by the date at the latest, whether the process is natural or induced.
