Scorsese Only Nominee

Though his film direction The Aviator could win 5 Oscars, still it couldn't bring victory to Martin Scorsese who lost his chance to win the Best Director Award at the 77th Annual Academy Awards, which taken away by his rival Clint Eastwood. This failure has put Scorsese in line with Alfred Hitchcock, Robert Altman, King Vidor and Clarence Brown, all of whom also lost all five times they were nominated.

Won Oscars for Best Supporting Actress, Best Cinematography, Costume Design, Film Editing and Art Direction, has infact led the Aviator up againsts Eastwood's Million Dollar baby that get four Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Director.

Foxx the Best Actor Winner

Jamie Foxx won the best-actor Oscar at the 77th Annual Academy Awards for the title role in "Ray," in which he portrays an uncanny emulation of beloved singer Ray Charles. He may feel proud with the victory, for which he definitely defeats any other promising nominess which include Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp and Clint Eastwood.

Moreover, Foxx's triumph has made it only the second time in Oscar history that blacks won two of the four acting honors after Morgan Freeman's supporting-actor win for "Million Dollar Baby."

Swank Wins Oscar for Best Actress

The four Oscars won by Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby has given Swank one for the category of Best Actress. Playing the main role as a boxer in the film, she successfully defeated Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role other nominees, one of which was Annette Bening.

This is Swank second Oscar in five years, after she previously won her first in 2000 for her performance in the transgender movie "Boys Don't Cry." Such achievement automatically puts the 30-year-old actress in the elite ranks of previous double leading actress winners Elizabeth Taylor, Jane Fonda and Jodie Foster.

Eastwood Wins Oscar for Best Director

Clint Eastwood film direction Million Dollar Baby has dominated the 77th Annual Academy Awards held in Los Angeles on February 27, 2005. The film surprisingly granted the 74 year old man an Oscar for Best Director and Producer as it also won such category as Best Picture, Best Actress for Hilary Swank and Best Supporting Actor for Morgan Freeman.

This victory has become the second time for Eastwood who also won a double Oscar for the same category in 1992 for his film entitled Unforgiven.

Swank's Marriage in Rock

Receiving her second Best Actress Academy Award at the 77th Annual Academy Awards has indeed granted Swank a phenomenal success, yet could not guarantee her marriage with actor Chad Lowe immortality .In fact, it has haunted Lowe with such emasculated feeling for he can't be better than his more successfull wife who makes all the money for the family.

By means of which the actor hopes he could do better with his career to raisen his self confidence that will surely help strengthen their marriage. Cruz Wants to Mother Indian Baby

Following her work with Mother Teresa's missionaries in Calcutta four years ago, Penelope Cruz has just uttered her plan to adopt an India homeless baby. After her few times visiting India, Cruz who felt a deep concern about the homeless there, and who loves children and had for long time wanted to be a mother then wanted to adopt one.

However, Cruz's plans to mother the baby has fueled speculation on her plan to marry her actor boyfriend, Matthew McConaughey.

Saturday Golden Raspberry Awards Winners

Some famous names were mentioned to bring home the prize at Golden Raspberry Awards ceremony held Saturday February 26, 2005 in Los Angeles. Among the popular people there was actress Halle Berry to collect Worst Actress Razzie for her Catwoman, which favorably won four awards including Worst Director, Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay.

There was also US President George W Bush who along the Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice received Worst Screen Couple for their performances in Michael Moore's hit documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11." For the same film there were Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to win Worst Supporting Actor and Britney Spears to win Worst Supporting Actress. After all there was California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger who was also named Worst Razzie Loser of the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation's 25 year history, for actors who received the most nominations without ever winning a trophy.
