Broadway Theaters Dim Lights to Honor Paul Newman
October 03, 2008 09:10:37It's been days that Paul Newman died, but honor keeps rolling in for him with the latest one coming from Broadway theaters which will dim their lights to honor the late actor. At 8 P.M. Friday, October 3 all Broadway theaters will remain dark for one minute to give regards to him.
Remembering Newman, who besides his on-screen projects also appeared in five Broadway productions, Charlotte St. Martin, the executive director of the Broadway League, said "For over half a century Paul Newman has graced our stages and inspired our souls with his brilliant talent." Remembering Newman's stage appearances, Charlotte continued, "After beginning his illustrious career on stage, his love for theater continued throughout his life as demonstrated by the Newman family's support of the renowned Westport Country Playhouse. Off-stage, his tireless devotion to philanthropic work has enhanced many lives and worthwhile causes."
Daughters of Paul Newman Paid Tribute to Actor Father

First of all praising their late father to have "played many unforgettable roles" during his entire life, the daughters said he "was a rare symbol of selfless humility, the last to acknowledge what he was doing was special. Intensely private, he quietly succeeded beyond measure in impacting the lives of so many with his generosity."
"Always and to the end, Dad was incredibly grateful for his good fortune," the statement continued. "In his own words: 'It's been a privilege to be here.' He will be profoundly missed by those whose lives he touched, but he leaves us with extraordinary inspiration to draw upon. During this difficult time, we ask for privacy for our family."

The Oscar-winning actor, who turned 82 in January, has announced during an interview on Good Morning America Thursday May 24th he would not make more films, claiming he's too old for that.

February 05, 2005 11:02:29Paul Newman had recently held a lavish party at his Westport, Connecticut, home to celebrate his 80th birthday and also his 47 marriage aniversary with his lovely wife, Joanne Woodward.
Performed at the party was the live sounds of the Emerson String Quartet to treat the guests before they were asked to have dinner at Newman's home where there was a cake in the shape of a racing car. Sharing her marriage success, Woodward proudly said that it was Newman who always makes her laugh everyday.
Paul Newman Unhurt in Race Car Fire
January 10, 2005 09:01:31Paul Newman was safe from an accident on a race car testing he did on Sunday at Daytona International Speedway.
At that time he was driving a Daytona Prototype sports car for next month's Rolex 24 when its engine suddenly caught fire as Newman tried to restart it. Lucky for Newman because he could escape without any injury/harm before he then took into the track's infield medical center and released after a brief exam.
