The Black Crowes Sued Gretchen Wilson Over Song Rip-Off
July 31, 2008 04:07:07Copyright-infringement has become the major issues for lots of musicians lately including for rock band The Black Crowes who have just filed a lawsuit against a singer who they claimed have stolen parts of their song. The musician that is being sued by the rocker is country star Gretchen Wilson.
The rockers claimed that Gretchen has taken some parts of their old hit track "Jealous Again" and use it on her new song "Work Hard, Play Harder" without a permission. Not only suing the singer on their lawsuit, the band also addressed their allegation to the country singer's label Sony BMG, a publishing company J Money Music and TNT, that uses the track to advertise their TV series "Saving Grace".

After announcing the names of honorees, VH1 Rock Honors gives away the list of performers on the May 12 night. The second year will feature Queens of the Stone Age, Alice in Chains, Nickelback, Keane and also Gretchen Wilson as the tribute artists.
The order of honors will go as follow: Queens of the Stone Age for Ozzy Osbourne, Nickelback for ZZ Top, Gretchen Wilson and Alice in Chains for Heart, and Keane for Genesis. The event that takes place at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Events Center will be hosted by reality show actor slash skateboarder Bam Margera.

After the big bang of debut album "Here for the Party" (2004), Gretchen Wilson went through sophomore album syndrome for 2005's "All Jacked Up". With the third titled "One of the Boys", she hopes to bring the 'Redneck Woman' sensation back.
The country singer took 2 years preparation to release the third album which is due May 15 via Columbia. With the help of Mark Wright and John Rich, she produces this record mostly by herself. "I've always wanted full ownership," she said. "I've been like that from the beginning." She then added that all of the songs are self-written except for two.

Cheyenne Frontier Days this year will not only serve free pancakes but also a groundbreaking mixture of rock and country music. Def Leppard and Grammy award winning Bon Jovi have been slated to perform as part of the 10 days Western celebration.
Bon Jovi will open the first night on July 20 while Def Leppard performs on July 28.

Chesney to Perform at Football and Soccer Stadiums

Country superstar Kenny Chesney has included at least nine stadium dates into his "The Road & The Radio" tour, which begins with a March 23-24 stand at the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio.
The nine dates included in his tour route this year, including National Football League stadiums in Boston, Nashville, Seattle, Detroit and Tampa, Fla., and Major League Soccer stadiums in Dallas, Chicago, Columbus, Ohio, and Los Angeles.

ASCAP Fete Chesney Voice of Music Award

Among them is Kenny Chesney who wins the ASCAP Voice of Music Award, when accepting which the star says "First and foremost, I consider myself a songwriter." Chesney's next album "The Road and the Radio," reportedly will be released next month.
Also granted an award at the 43rd Annual ASCAP is Craig Wiseman of group Rascal Flatts who is given the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year prize for singles "In a Real Love," "Live Like You Were Dying," "Rough and Ready" and "That's What It's All About." Moreover, the Tim McGraw hit "Live Like You Were Dying," which Wiseman co-wrote with Tim Nichols, is named Song of the Year.
Nickelback Tops Chart with the Right Reasons

This is the first time for them to have such attainment in which their album "All the Right Reasons" has become their first U.S. No. 1 album, sold 317,000 copies in its debut week. Chicago rapper Twista is at 2nd with "The Day After" sold nearly 129,000 copies.
Country star Sarah Evans' "Real Fine Place" opening at No. 3, ahead of Gretchen Wilson's "All Jacked Up" which drops to No. 4 from last week's No. 1 debut. Sheryl Crow's "Wildflowers" drops three places to No. 5 with 106,000 copies in its second week, followed by Kanye West's "Late Registration" at No. 6. Entering the chart at No. 7 is Fiona Apple's "Extraordinary Machine" which has been sold for 94,000 copies.
Gretchen Wilson Beats All to Up the Charts

The singer's sophomore effort titled "All Jacked Up" successfully debuts at the top of the Billboard 200 and Billboard Top Country Albums charts this week after moving 264,000 units in its first week of release. Sheryl Crow's "Wildflower" secures the 2nd rank with 140,000 copies.
Comes after Crow at No. 3 is Three Six Mafia's "Most Known Unknown," which sold 115,000 copies in its first week of release. The band followed by Toni Braxton at No. 4 with "Libra" which moved 114,000 units in its debut week. Rounding out the top five is Kanye West's "Late Registration," which drops from No. 3 to No. 5. Debuts at No. 6 is Lil' Kim, whose "Naked Truth" sold 109,000 units in its first week on the charts.
Wilson Taking Rest
September 30, 2005 11:09:39Country singer Gretchen Wilson has been ordered by her doctors to rest her voice. Yet, "There is nothing urgent about her condition," said her publicist Michele Schweitzer. "She has been working non-stop for 15 months and this is the best time for her to take a rest."
Due to that fact, Wilson unfortunately has to move her Oct. 7 concert in Huntsville, Ala., to Dec. 17 and her Oct. 8 Perry, Ga., date to sometime in 2006. She's next scheduled to begin "The Revolution Tour" with Big & Rich and the Muzik Mafia on Nov. 4 in Houston.
Wilson Not to Smoke at Concerts
August 26, 2005 12:08:59Being considered to violate the 1998 settlement between states and tobacco companies forbidding tobacco ads targeting young people, Gretchen Wilson was requested by the state attorney general to stop "glamorizing" the use of smokeless tobacco at her concerts. The country singer previously was clearly seen pulling a can of Skoal from her pocket while performing her new song, "Skoal Ring."
"Many young people attend your concerts and purchase your music and T-shirts," Attorney General Paul Summers wrote in his letter sent to Wilson Thursday. "Because your actions strongly influence the youth in your audience ... I ask you to take steps to warn young people of negative health effects of smokeless tobacco use."
Gretchen Wilson's Next Album to Soon be Released

Detailing on her new album, Wilson mentions her new album does feature a few special guests, including Merle Haggard and her Muzik Mafia friend and producer, John Rich of Big & Rich. Moreover, it will also includes a remake of a Billie Holiday tune. There is no fix date mentioned on when fans can expect Wilson's new album to be released.

Along with them were Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss who won collaborative video of the year for their duet "Whiskey Lullaby"; Rascal Flatts won best group/duo video for "Feels Like Today"; and Toby Keith won hottest video for "Whiskey Girl." Mentioned also to bring home their victory were Tim McGraw who won most inspiring video for "Live Like You Were Dying"; and actor/director Rick Schroder won best director for the "Whiskey Lullaby" video.
