Winners List of 2009 Juno Awards
March 30, 2009 10:03:30Winners for this year's Juno Awards have been uncovered at a two-hour ceremony at General Motors Place on Sunday, March 29. Nickelback and Kardinal Offishall were among the musicians scooping multiple awards at the event.
Nickelback got three trophies for Juno Fan Choice, Album of the Year and Group of the Year. During a press conference after the show, the band's lead vocalist/guitarist Chad Kroeger said, "Shock and awe, I was hoping for Hedley ... I love those guys very much."
Video Premiere: Feist's 'Honey Honey'
October 23, 2008 04:10:38Feist has premiered a music video to promote her new song "Honey Honey". Directed by Anthony Seck, the video stars finely-detailed puppets and revolves around the story of an old fisherman's wife who waits for her husband. Unfortunately, in the middle of the ocean, the fisherman is caught in trouble when a monstrous fish appears and he becomes its hapless target.
"It's a hand pulling a string at the exact right moment, or it's personifying a piece of wood. There are no computers, no buttons," Feist commented on the music video. "It's just ingenuity and timing and the humanness of the moment. The joints of wood mixed with the joints of blood and bone."
2008 Juno Awards Winners List
April 07, 2008 09:04:04Feist was nominated for five categories in 2008 Juno Awards and she took home, all five of them. The 32-year-old singer made an exceptional sweep at the Canadian event on Sunday, April 6 when her album "The Reminder", her single "1234" and her profession as a songwriter successfully moved out her competitors.
"I made a record with my buddies in a house, people's ears were open to it for whatever incomprehensible reason, and then those people brought me more people in my world," Feist said on her acceptance speech that was scribbled on her hand. Ironically her wins made Celine Dion and Avril Lavigne who were nominated for six and five respectively, walked away with none.
Feist's 'The Reminder' Crowned as 2007 Shortlist Music Prize Winner
February 06, 2008 11:02:53Out of the ten albums vying for the 2007 Shortlist Music Prize, Feist's "The Reminder" was regarded the worthy one by the 'Listmakers'. The prize honors an album that was released last year and has not gone gold by the time of nomination, as chosen by a panel of musicians, producers and journalists aka the 'Listmakers'.
This year's Listmakers are comprised of Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody, The Killers' Ronnie Vannucci, journalist Rev. Moose, KCRW DJ Chris Douridas and the hosts of Hunnypot Internet Radio. In a statement, Lightbody called Feist's piece "the album of the year for 2007 or any year I can think of: it's modern and classic all at once. There are so many kinds of beauty in this record."
