October 07, 2008 10:10:43Coldplay are newly crowned double winners at the 2008 Q Awards. The rock band were hailed Best Act in the World Today and their latest album "Viva la Vida" was given the honor as Best Album. "I don't think we're the best act in the room, let alone the world," Chris Martin, the band's frontman said.
The British event also saw winnings from Duffy, The Last Shadow Puppets, Keane, and Kaiser Chiefs. Duffy beat Adele and Santogold but she could not attend the event to receive the award. Puppets, which is a side project by Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner, picked up Best New Act. Turner appearing solo said, "Thank you very much. I understand it's voted by the readers so this means a lot of course. Unfortunately my partner couldn't be here because he had some trouble with the trains."
David Gilmour Glastonbury Snub Denied by Organizers
June 03, 2008 04:06:12Previous news saying that the Glastonbury Festival organizers have snubbed David Gilmour to perform at the event because he was too old, has now been denied by one of the organizers, Michael Eavis. Michael who was previously being named as the one who rejected David's wish to play at the event, revealed that the reason he turned down the legendary rocker because there are no space left for a new performer.
Speaking to the press Michael said, "I got a call three or four weeks ago from Gilmour's people. It was obviously very flattering that he had shown an interest in playing here, but by that time all the bands were already in place for this year." He also added, "We've got a wonderful line-up and I couldn't bump one of the artists off, even for him. Hopefully we'll be able to arrange it for another year, though."

June 02, 2008 03:06:05No country for old man, that's probably the line that describes what the Glastonbury festival's organizers thinks of Pink Floyd's David Gilmour. Reports said that the organizers have rejected David's wishes to play at the annual festival because they think that he is too old.
The news surfaced after a source told The Sun newspaper that despite David being desperate to perform at Glastonbury, one of the organizers Michael Eavis turned it down. "Dave has always had a soft spot for Glastonbury. He's got a window in his touring plans and thought he'd contact Michael about performing. And while Michael was grateful for the offer he turned it down," the source said.
David Gilmour to Release Syd Barrett Tribute Tracks

David Gilmour, guitarist of band Pink Floyd, is about to release an EP dedicated to former band member and friend Syd Barrett, who died in July of pancreatic cancer.
The EP, dubbed "Arnold Layne," features the acoustic cover of the song "Dark Globe," from Barrett's debut solo album "The Madcap Laughs" and two versions of Pink Floyd's first-ever single, "Arnold Layne," all recorded at Gilmour's shows earlier this year at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Due to a problem with the stage, which was found to be unsafe for use, the two concerts of David Gilmour in Venice, Italy had to be postponed.
Gilmour, the legendary Pink Floyd guitarist, was scheduled to perform in St. Mark's Square Friday and Saturday August 4th and 5th. However, the gigs were cancelled soon as a stage problem was discovered before a sound check on Friday night.

Originally slated to hit stores last December, the Pink Floyd live DVD "Pulse" will now marry the street June 27. That's according to Columbia Records.
Originally released on VHS in 1995 in companion with a double-disc CD set of the same name, "Pulse" chronicles the band's 1994 tour in support of their last album "The Division Bell".

It's the first time ever that rapper Juvenile scores the No. 1 spot on the U.S. albums chart. The New Orleans star has marked quite a very good beginning in his music career when his album "Reality Check" sold 174,000 copies in the week ended March 12, to become the chart-topper on the Billboard 200.
English singer/songwriter James Blunt, meanwhile, bounces seven places to No. 2 with his debut release "Back to Bedlam," which has been sold 161,000 copies in its 23rd week on the chart. Secures the 3rd place is the Disney's television movie "High School Musical" which slips one place with 138,000 units.
Pink Floyd's Reunion Is Not Happening

"Nick, Richard, Roger and I are telling fans directly that this is not happening," David Gilmour said, representing other former members of Nick Mason, Richard Wright, and Roger Waters. This surely would turn out to be such a bad news for their hopeful fans indeed.
Pink Floyd's David Gilmour's Solo Tour
December 23, 2005 09:12:29David Gilmour of the rock band Pink Floyd has planned a solo tour. The singer and guitarist has scheduled 10 U.S. and Canadian dates in April as an attempt to support his upcoming solo studio album, "On an Island."
"I've had a fantastic time making On an Island and really want to perform tracks from it, along with my more familiar repertoire," Gilmour said. The tour reportedly will begin April 4 next year at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
