The latest film project Morgan Freeman is currently setting up apparently has attracted big names and a major studio to also join in. Variety has learned that Clint Eastwood is eyeing the director's chair in "The Human Factor" with Matt Damon and Warner Bros. Pictures being in talks to star in and finance, respectively.
An adaptation of John Carlin's book "The Human Factor: Nelson Mandela and the Game that Changed the World", the movie centers on the 1995 Rugby World Cup held in South Africa which Mandela used as a means to end decades of mistrust and hatred between whites and blacks. Damon reportedly is negotiating to play the captain of the Springboks, the South Africa national rugby union team.

Recognized his abundant contribution in film industry, Film Independent, a non-profit membership organization supporting artists who embody diversity, innovation, and uniqueness of vision, has delightfully named Clint Eastwood the honoree of its 2007 Spirit of Independence Award.
The veteran actor/filmmaker will be given the award at this year's Los Angeles Film Festival set to be held on June 28 with Tony Bennett presenting the honor. As part of the upcoming occasion, there will also be a presentation of documentary feature "Tony Bennett: The Music Never Ends" which Eastwood executive produces for Netflix.

One apparently is not enough for an acclaimed artist like Clint Eastwood. Previously partnering with Netflix, Inc.'s division Red Envelope Entertainment to executive produce "Tony Bennett: The Music Never Ends", a documentary about the prominent recording singer, the man now is reported to make another about U.S. jazz pianist Dave Brubeck.
Eastwood is said to serve as producer on the feature, tentatively titled "Dave Brubeck -- In His Own Sweet Way" alongside Bruce Ricker who will also direct. The twosome previously teamed up to bring a documentary about fellow jazz artist Thelonious Monk titled "Thelonious Monk, Straight No Chaser" in 1988.

A co-production of Imagine and Eastwood's Malpaso, the picture is based on true events in 1920s Los Angeles about a woman who suspects that her abducted son may not be her own child upon retrieving the boy. Another year, another favorite. Move over Tom Hanks because people have their new favorite. It's Denzel Washington. The Hollywood hunk has been chosen the No. 1 America's Favorite Movie Star in the nationwide Harris Poll of 1,147 U.S. adults surveyed online by Harris Interactive between December 12 and 18, 2006.
Dropping from number one to number two is Hanks, while movie legend John Wayne remains in third place. Tough guy Clint Eastwood jumps up two spots to fourth place. Next on the poll is Will Smith who along with actress Julia Roberts tie for the 5th spot.

The survey, involving 1,001 adults, places Johnny Depp as second on the list, ahead of Harrison Ford and John Wayne who both tied in 3rd spot.
Rounding out the top 5 is actress Julia Roberts. Clint Eastwood is in 6th place, while Mel Gibson is in 7th spot. George Clooney is 8th, followed then at 9th by Sean Connery, with Sandra Bullock rounding out the Top 10 list on the poll.
The Directors Guild of America to Honor Eastwood

Will co-produce the Paul Haggis adaptation is DreamWorks Pictures, responsible for the domestic distribution, and Warner Bros. Pictures with the international one. Clint Eastwood himself, along with Steven Spielberg will be producing the movie.
As for the movie casts, there are Ryan Phillippe, Adam Beach and Jesse Bradford. Revolves the story of Iwo Jima Battle, which took place in the winter of 1945, Phillippe will play Navy corpsman John Bradley, while Beach portrays Ira Hayes, a Pima Indian who copes with the war experiences by drinking himself to death. Bradford, to add, will play Rene Gagnon, a ladies' man who is one of the flag raisers.
