Toby Keith Tops Forbes List of Country's Top Earners
May 26, 2008 03:05:03Country music artist Toby Keith has been named the Highest-Earning Country Star in a new Forbes magazine study. According to the publication, the singer is raking in an estimated $48 million over the last year, thanks to his major endorsement deal with Ford trucks, involvement in his I Love This Bar & Grill chain of restaurants, and ownership of his record label, Show Dog Nashville.
Country trio Rascal Flatts comes in second on the list, with $40 million in earnings. The music group's inclusion in the list is because of their Top 10 2007 tour that proved to help them earning such amount of earnings.
Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley to Announce ACM Awards Nominees
February 27, 2008 01:02:46Together with Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood will unleash the names that will be contending for prizes at 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. Both country music icons will attend a press conference on March 4 at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
The announcement of the nominees will come a day before the beginning of Country Radio Seminar, an annual conference of radio executives from throughout the nation. ACM and United Stations Radio Networks will sponsor the Paisley-headlined Music City Jam on March 5.

Paisley, through his "Online" video takes in six kudos including Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year and Comedy Video of the year.
"Online" also brought in nominations for its supporting characters, a category which is only introduced this year. Actress Maureen McCormick and actors Jason Alexander and William Shatner are the contenders to this.

Country recording artist Brad Paisley and his wife, Kimberly Williams, happily welcomed the arrival of their first child ever Thursday morning Feb 22nd. The newlyborn, a baby boy, was born at 5 a.m. CST in a Nashville-area hospital.
The baby boy, who has yet given a name, weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces, the singer's father Doug Paisley told CBS-TV affiliate WTRF in Wheeling, W.Va. Mom and baby are resting comfortably in Nashville, according to the couple representative.

The likes of Rod Stewart, Norah Jones and Brad Paisley are among the headliners for this year's New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The threesome will join other performers, including Irma Thomas, Dr. John and Allen Toussaint just to name a few.
The festival, spanning two weekends in April and May, will feature hundreds of the city's most beloved musicians and a host of national headliners at the New Orleans Fair Grounds, a horse-racing track that flooded and was seriously damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

The drama movie wins an award for the category of Feature Film Wide Release, thanks to its accurate portrayals of drug, alcohol and tobacco use and addiction within entertainment programming.

The Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart has a new champion as Carrie Underwood's "Jesus, Take the Wheel" has been replaced by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton's "When I Get Where I'm Going". This succession marks Paisley's fifth chart topper since "Mud on the Tires" held pole position the week of February 5, 2005. Meanwhile, it's the 25th No. 1 for Parton.
At No. 2 on the chart is Josh Turner's "Your Man", followed closely behind by Underwood's "Jesus, Take the Wheel" at No. 3 and Kenny Chesney's "Living In Fast Forward" at No. 4. The song was previously featured in John's album entitled "Peachtree Road" which came up last year and was composed by himself along with his writing partner, Bernie Taupin.
"I've always admired Sir Elton's songwriting, musicianship and singing and I'm thrilled to be working with him," Parton said as quoted by Country Music Association. "It should be a very passionate performance."
