'Soul Men' Debuts First Trailer
September 06, 2008 09:09:43The first trailer to Dimension Films latest drama comedy, "Soul Men", has arrived. Focusing on revealing the dynamic between Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac, the trailer highlights on two estranged backup soul-singers, Louis and Floyd, as they travel across the country together once again, experiencing misadventures and reliving the pain of betrayal along the way.
Telling the reunion story of the two remaining members from the popular 70's soul band, The Real Deal, "Soul Men" centers on Floyd Henderson, a retired business man, and Louis Hinds, an ex-convict. When the two find out that their band's lead singer Marcus Hook has recently passed away, they decide to make a musical tribute for their late friend. Taking a road trip to the Apollo Theater for the cause, the estranged duo soon falls into a series of adventures that forced them to realize that they still have the music in them.

Thousands of mourners, including family, friends and fans, came out for the funeral, giving their last honor for the late actor-comedian, who died on August 9 due to complications from pneumonia. He was 50.
Seen attending the star-studded tribute among others were Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Steve Harvey, and Cedric the Entertainer. Jackson, who co-stars with Mac in the upcoming comedy-drama movie "Soul Men," spoke at the church, remembering Mac as a strong and good-spirited person. He "was having some health issues, but he always said to me every morning that he was always good," Jackson said in a statement.

The actor-comedian died in a Chicago-area hospital Saturday morning, August 9 at about 2 A.M. of complications from pneumonia, his publicist has confirmed. His wife Rhonda McCullough and daughter were with him until the very end of his life. He was 50.
Mac was hospitalized with pneumonia, which is not related to the autoimmune disorder called sarcoidosis he's been suffering since 20 years ago, early last week. His publicist previously told the press that despite reports to the contrary, the star "is responding well to treatment and will be released soon."

A publicist for him, Danica Smith, confirmed Friday, August 1 "Mr. Mac is responding well to treatment and will be released soon. He asked that his privacy and that of his family is respected while he gets well." In further confirmation, Smith also stated that the pneumonia has nothing to do with the sarcoidosis, an autoimmune disorder, the 49-year-old comic actor was diagnosed with more than 20 years ago.

Tom Arnold has at last decided to take the hot job, joining the cast of "P.D.R.". The actor thus will star in the drama flick alongside the likes of Terrence Howard and Bernie Mac.
In the Lionsgate film project, Howard is set to play the role of Jim Ellis, who in the 1970s started a black swim team in one of the roughest neighborhoods in Philadelphia. As for Arnold, he will play the racist swim coach of the rival team.

The highly anticipated action flick "Ocean's Thirteen" has been set for a July 21 start date. That's according to Warner Bros. Pictures and producer Jerry Weintraub. Filming reportedly will take place primarily on five soundstages on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, where a fully operational casino will be built.
