2009 mtvU Woodie Awards Noms Announced, Drake Up for Woodie of the Year
October 06, 2009 10:10:04Chosen by college students and music fans across U.S., nominations for the sixth annual mtvU Woodie Awards have been announced. New rappers Drake, Asher Roth and Kid Cudi are listed in one category each.
Drake goes head-to-head against Roth, Kings of Leon, MGMT and Silversun Pickups, vying for Woodie of the Year. As for Cudi, he is among the contenders for Best Video Woodie along with Death Cab for Cutie, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Anjulie, The Dead Weather and Matt and Kim.
Video Premiere: Asher Roth's 'She Don't Want a Man'
August 25, 2009 09:08:31Asher Roth has debuted a music video for his new single "She Don't Want a Man", sharing screen with his collaborator Keri Hilson. In the Jonathan Lia-directed video, Asher and Keri hit the club and boogie down the floor along with the other partygoers. At the end of the video, Asher is kicked out of the club by two guards.
"This is a real party; it's not one of those fake video parties," Asher told MTV about the scenes he and Keri shot for the video. "A lot of the scenes are back and forth, boys versus girls. [It's] a girl-empowerment song. Letting the girls do their thing and have fun and just boogie and not have us be all over them. But we still chase after some booty, you know?"
Nominations of 2009 MTV VMAs, Beyonce and Lady GaGa Lead the Pack
August 05, 2009 09:08:33Nomination recipients for the 26th Annual MTV Video Music Awards have been announced on August 4. And, it was revealed that both Beyonce Knowles and Lady GaGa have dominated the list with nine nods.
Out of the nine nominations Beyonce and Lady GaGa received, eight of them have the two female singers facing off against each other. Beyonce competes against Lady GaGa in such categories as Video of the Year, Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Direction, Best Editing, Best Special Effects, Best Cinematography and Art Direction.
Asher Roth and Kid Cudi Collaborate for Hangover Tour
June 03, 2009 02:06:56New rappers Asher Roth and Kid Cudi are confirmed to hit the road together for a summer roadshow dubbed Great Hangover Tour. The musicians, who both are signed to Universal Motown, will hit 19 cities around U.S. with support from B.O.B. and an Atlanta-based rapper. Tour dates are expected to be announced soon.
Commenting on the forthcoming tour, Asher tells Billboard, "It's exciting - for me it's like, this is the first step for me on the road." He adds, "We've been doing promo runs, but not a real tour yet."
Asher Roth's 'Be by Myself' Music Video Debuted

"Asleep in the Bread Aisle" itself has hit U.S. market since April 21 through SchoolBoy/SRC/Universal Motown. It lines up the likes of Busta Rhymes, Keri Hilson, Chester French, Jazze Pha and Miguel in addition to Cee-Lo as featured guests.

March 30, 2009 11:03:08Asher Roth, who got into mainstream rap scene after being featured in DJ Drama-helmed mixtape "The Greenhouse Effect", steals public attention as "I Love College", the first single off his major-label debut album "Asleep in the Bread Aisle", climbs to number 14 on Billboard Hot 100. He has released the song in February and described it as a "very autobiographical" track.
"That song is very autobiographical," Asher says. "I spent two years in college, and I'm sure if I would have spent four, I would have been like, 'I hate college!' But I got two years in, partied a lot, had a good time, enjoyed myself, and really found out who I was as a person."
Asher Roth Debuting 'Lark on My Go-Kart' Music Video
March 20, 2009 11:03:49A music video aimed to promote Asher Roth's new single "Lark on My Go-Kart" has been premiered. Filmed as an animated video, it shows him as a cartoon character sitting on a couch and playing some video games.
"Lark on My Go-Kart" is one of the new materials, which will appears in Asher's upcoming debut studio album "Asleep in the Bread Aisle". The track produced by Oren Yoel and David Appleton will be available for digital purchase on March 24.
