After such hard work recording the new version of "Dead Man," which was originally the B-side of the 1996 Pearl Jam single "Off He Goes," frontman Eddie Vedder at last has the song included on an expanded reissue of the soundtrack to the 1996 film "Dead Man Walking".
The soundtrack is bolstered with a DVD taped at Not in Our Name: Dead Man Walking -- The Concert, which was held March 29, 1998, at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium. It featured performances by Vedder and Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament, Ani DiFranco, Lyle Lovett, Tom Waits and Steve Earle.
DiFranco Marks Comeback at New Orleans Jazz Fest
April 25, 2006 01:04:12
After taking a hiatus for almost a year because of the tendonitis in her wrists, Ani DiFranco is now ready to make a comeback to music scene and marks the calendar on Friday, April 28 date as the beginning of it. The event will be the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in which she is slated to play the first night of it which runs throughout the weekend and the following weekend and features noted names, like Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Keith Urban, and Fats Domino.
While fans may wonder what the singer will sound like now, DiFranco surprisingly could not give any reassuring hints as she too was unsure about it. "I don't know what my music is going to sound like until I open my mouth," she admitted. "Jazz Fest is sort of kicking off my re-entry into the stage." So, just counting the days until the time comes then.
DiFranco Takes One Year Hiatus
July 23, 2005 11:07:09Because of worsening tendonitis in her wrists and hands, singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco will take one-year career hiatus, beginning this month after her July 31 gig in Floyd, Va. This ploy obviously makes DiFranco to cancel her West Coast tour due to begin August 30 in Boise, Idaho.
Explaining this, her spokesperson said in a statement, "If she were to continue to perform at this time, she would risk permanent nerve damage to her hands." During her recovery, DiFranco is planning "several new recording projects" with unspecified special guests, as well as a new solo album due sometime in 2006 via her own Righteous Babe label. She will also speak as part of the New Yorker Festival on September 24 in the Big Apple.
