'Mamma Mia!' star Amanda Seyfried gets candid about her fears as she talked about her decision to decline the offer to play Gamora in Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.

AceShowbiz - Amanda Seyfried reflected on her decision to turn down the role of Gamora in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy". During her appearance on Josh Horowitz's "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, the actress admitted she had no confidence in the movie.

Despite having a "wonderful" meeting with director James Gunn, Seyfried ultimately said no to the offer because she feared she would never be able to recover if the movie flopped.

"Being a part of a Marvel movie, the first Marvel movie that bombs, ain't good for your career," she explained. "I thought that because this was about a talking tree and a talking raccoon, that it was going to be Marvel's first bomb and that Chris Pratt and I would never work again. It was wrong."

The "Mamma Mia!" star also elaborated on other factors, including the daunting prospect of intensive, potentially long-hour makeup sessions required to portray the green-skinned character.

"I was really scared of the idea of being stuck and painted a different color because of the amount of time that the X-Men people had been," she explained.

Seyfried also mentioned her aversion to living in London for an extended period and her interest in working on Seth MacFarlane's "A Million Ways to Die in the West."

Reflecting on her career at that time, Seyfried noted it was "a precarious moment," prompting her to avoid significant risks when choosing the right role. "I didn't want to suffer for the work, and I think getting there for four and a half hours every morning and every night just seemed like it wasn't going to be fun," she reasoned.

While "Guardians of the Galaxy" proved to be a massive success, earning over $772 million at the box office, Seyfried stands by her choice. "I don't regret any decision that I made. I made it for myself in the moment that I made it. It was good for me then, and it's good for me now," she explained.

Zoe Saldana eventually took on the role of Gamora, and Seyfriend praised her. "Zoe and Chris and everybody who's part of that movie are having the best time, and it worked for them. And I love that, I love that I was able to, you know, stay with my gut," she remarked, adding that James Gunn was a "genius."

Despite missing out on the role, Seyfried continues to enjoy a flourishing career with notable roles in Oscar-nominated movie "Mank" and Emmy-winning series "The Dropout".
