Despite a record-tying 16th Oscar loss, prolific songwriter Diane Warren keeps her spirits high while cracking a joke, determined to continue her journey in the music industry.

AceShowbiz - Diane Warren suffered her 16th consecutive Oscar loss at the 2025 Academy Awards. With her "Six Triple Eight" tune "The Journey," sung by H.E.R., losing to "El Mal" from "Emilia Perez", Warren humorously acknowledged her loss streak. "I'm consistent as f***," she quipped.
Warren's first Oscar nomination dates back to 1987 for "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" from the movie "Mannequin". Her extensive filmography includes soundtracks for notable films such as "Burlesque", "Pearl Harbor", and "The Hunting Ground".
Over the years, Warren has garnered immense respect and recognition, including a Grammy, an Emmy, two Golden Globes, and an honorary Oscar presented by Cher at the Governors Awards in 2022.
Reflecting on her latest nomination, Warren felt particularly proud of "The Journey," describing it as her most deserving work to date. "This would be definitely the most deserving to me," Warren remarked.
"Honestly, it sounds really cliché, but it's not a cliché, because it is an amazing honor to be nominated. They only choose five songs, and then you're chosen by your peers, who are the best of the best."
Her determination is further evidenced by her light-hearted vow to return. "I'm the Terminator of the Oscars - I'll be back. That's in my Arnold Schwarzenegger voice. I'm coming back. You can't get rid of me," she said
Warren's ability to maintain her humor and optimism in the face of repeated losses is both inspiring and emblematic of her enduring passion for music.
In addition to her impressive list of nominations, Warren has tied with Paul Francis Webster for the third most nods in the Best Original Song category's 91-year history. Only Sammy Cahn with 26 and Johnny Mercer with 18 surpass her.
Furthermore, she has surpassed Marilyn Bergman as the woman with the most nominations in this category.
Warren's legacy in the music industry is firmly established, but her journey is far from over. As she continues to write songs that resonate deeply with audiences, her unwavering spirit and prolific talent ensure that she remains a formidable force in the world of film music.
"This isn't going to slow me down," she affirmed. "I thought I had a chance this time. It didn't go that way, but I'm still here."
